The ASEAN Cup championship is a motivation for the Vietnamese national teams to continue aiming for important goals in 2025, including the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games.
Next March, the Vietnamese team will have the opening match of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers against Laos. If everything goes well, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will have more confidence to prepare for the next stage.
According to the schedule, Quang Hai and his teammates will face other teams in F, namely Malaysia (June), Nepal (2 matches in October), Laos (November) and the final match against Malaysia in March 2026.
Basically, Laos, Malaysia or Nepal are not very strong teams. Therefore, the opportunity for Vietnam to win a ticket to the final round of the Asian Cup 2027 is not difficult. However, coach Kim Sang-sik and his students need to have careful preparation in terms of personnel and strategy to complete the set target.
Immediately after the vacation, the Korean coach and his colleagues immediately returned to work, attending many matches in V.League to monitor the performance of Vietnamese players, and at the same time looking for suitable new recruits for the upcoming important campaign.
In addition, Mr. Kim Sang-sik's dual goal is to select personnel for U22 Vietnam towards the 33rd SEA Games. Currently, there are nearly 60 players of this age group playing in the 2024-2025 V.League and about 30 players competing regularly.
Under his predecessor Troussier, the U22 Vietnam team won a bronze medal at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia. This achievement could not meet the expectations of fans, because before that, Vietnam had won two consecutive gold medals at the 30th and 31st SEA Games.
Therefore, the target for Mr. Kim and his students is to compete for the gold medal at the 33rd SEA Games, taking place in Thailand at the end of this year.
Besides the Vietnam national team and Vietnam U22 team, next April, the Vietnam U17 team will participate in the U17 Asian Cup finals in Saudi Arabia. The "Golden Star Warriors" face a big challenge when they are in the same group with U17 Australia, U17 Japan and U17 UAE.
In the near future, the Vietnam Football Federation will soon appoint the head coach of Vietnam U17 to replace Mr. Cristiano Roland. Of course, the team's goal is to reach the quarter-finals to win a place at the U17 World Cup.
