Xuan Nam stayed behind to find Van Son to provoke first.
As Lao Dong reported on November 14, after the match between Ho Chi Minh City Youth and PVF-CAND in the 2024-2025 National First Division, two players Nguyen Xuan Nam (PVF-CAND) and Vu Van Son (Ho Chi Minh City Youth) got into a fight.
According to information from the PVF-CAND club posted on its fanpage, after the match, player Xuan Nam was beaten by a young player from the Ho Chi Minh City Youth team right in front of the locker room.
In the PVF-CAND club’s post about the incident on the morning of November 15, the team said that Xuan Nam had made provocative remarks towards Van Son and claimed that Xuan Nam had only pushed Van Son. However, this post was quickly deleted.
According to the surveillance camera in the Thong Nhat Stadium tunnel, striker Xuan Nam took the initiative to meet, provoke and hit Van Son with his shoe first. After that, the two sides continued to fight, forcing the security forces to work hard to stop it. As a result, Xuan Nam suffered from bleeding from the nose and mouth.
According to Lao Dong's investigation, the organizers of the match at Thong Nhat Stadium allowed players from both teams to enter a separate tunnel, but Xuan Nam still stayed behind to meet Van Son until the incident happened.
"This match was tense, the two teams were sent to the locker room at two different times and the home team was given priority. In this match, the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Club was still stretching, so the organizers decided to let the away team PVF-CAND players enter first, via the A1 stand. However, Xuan Nam did not go straight into the locker room but lingered before the unfortunate incident happened," said a representative of the match organizers.
Responding to Lao Dong, Vu Van Son (the person accused of beating Xuan Nam) said that he and Xuan Nam had an argument on the field while the match was taking place. After entering the tunnel, the two sides continued to exchange words. It was Xuan Nam who first pushed the Ho Chi Minh City Youth team player in the chest, and then the fight broke out.
Meanwhile, coach Tran Duy Quang of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth team said: "At that time, I had not yet entered the tunnel, but I heard my teammates recount the incident. During the match, these two players had a collision.
After the match, when entering the tunnel, the two players had another argument. Some team members said that player Xuan Nam hit the player from Ho Chi Minh City Youth first, so my student hit back."
There will be heavy penalties.
Faced with this serious incident, at 11:00 a.m. on November 15, the Organizing Committee of the Vietnam Professional Football Tournament held a meeting to review all video footage and reports from relevant parties before submitting the punishment to the VFF Disciplinary Board.
This is an incident that seriously affects Vietnamese football, so surely the members who committed bad actions will have to propose severe disciplinary action.
