Accordingly, Nguyen Xuan Son participated in the election of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term at polling station No. 52, Tuc Mac Cultural House (Nam Dinh ward, Ninh Binh province).
This is the first time the striker of Nam Dinh Club has participated in the election as a Vietnamese citizen. Xuan Son expressed his emotion and pride in this special moment.

At the polling station, many people recognized the striker of the Vietnamese team. Many people took the opportunity to ask to take photos with Xuan Son. The Nam Dinh striker happily interacted and recorded memorable moments with fans.
Nguyen Xuan Son, originally named Rafaelson Fernandes, was born in 1997 in Brazil. He came to Vietnam to play from 2019 and after many years of attachment to Vietnamese football, this striker completed the procedures to naturalize Vietnamese citizenship in 2024 under the name Nguyen Xuan Son.
After naturalization, Xuan Son played in the V.League as a domestic player in the colors of Nam Dinh Club. This striker once made a strong impression when scoring 31 goals to win the V.League top scorer title 2023-2024, and also made a great contribution to helping the Nam Dinh team win the national championship.
Becoming a Vietnamese citizen opened a major turning point in Xuan Son's career. He was called up to the national team and became the best player, leading the Vietnamese team to the AFF Cup 2024 championship.
In the final match in Thailand in early January 2025, he unfortunately suffered a serious injury and had to rest for many months, he just returned to play at the end of the year and is currently ready with the national team to enter the rematch against the Malaysian national team in the Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers.
