The Vietnam team has finished a 10-day training trip in Korea to prepare for the AFF Cup (new name is ASEAN Cup) 2024.
Instead of playing official friendly matches during FIFA Days in November, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team played practice matches with three clubs: Ulsan Citizen (K.League 3), Daegu FC (K.League 1) and Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors (K.League 1).
The "Golden Star Warriors" achieved positive results when defeating Ulsan Citizen and Daegu with a score of 2-0, before winning 3-1 against Jeonbuk. Because these were private matches, the tactics and playing style of the Vietnamese team were not revealed. However, the good news for Mr. Kim Sang-sik was that the strikers of the Vietnamese team scored one after another.
In the first match, strikers Tien Linh and Tuan Hai scored for the Vietnamese team. In the second match, Quang Hai and Hai Long brought home goals for the home team and 3 goals in the third match were scored by Quang Hai, Thanh Binh and Duy Manh.
Among them, Quang Hai is gradually regaining the trust of fans with 2 goals after 2 matches. It should be remembered that, since the beginning of the 2024-2025 professional season, despite playing in all 9 matches for Hanoi Police, the player born in 1997 has not scored any goals.
Previously, at the national team level, Quang Hai was on the bench for most of the matches. The last time Vietnam drew 0-0 with India, the midfielder born in 1997 was only on the field for the last 20 minutes.
Currently, in the context of many pillars such as Van Quyet, Que Ngoc Hai, Hung Dung being absent for various reasons, the Vietnamese team needs a "locomotive" with enough courage and ability to lead the team on the field and Quang Hai is the type of leader that Mr. Kim Sang-sik needs.
If he regains his form and demonstrates his inherent ability, midfielder Nguyen Quang Hai will be an important player for the national team at the upcoming AFF Cup.
Besides Quang Hai, Tien Linh is also an important factor of the Vietnam team. Compared to his teammates, the striker of Binh Duong club is having impressive form. He has scored 7 goals for the team of Thu Dau Mot since the beginning of the new season.
At this year's AFF Cup, Tien Linh took on the responsibility of scoring for the Vietnamese team. His recent positive performance is a good sign for Mr. Kim Sang-sik.
With Tien Linh stable in scoring efficiency, Quang Hai regaining his playing feeling, Tuan Hai gradually returning after injury... the Vietnamese team's attack line is also more optimistic towards the Southeast Asian championship.
