After the 2-1 victory of the Vietnamese women's team against India in the opening match of the 2026 Asian Cup, Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan, on behalf of the Executive Committee and the Standing Committee of the VFF, sent congratulations to the coaching staff and players.
Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan assessed that the result of winning all 3 points in the opening match was an important start for the team at the tournament. He acknowledged the fighting spirit, tactical adherence and the ability to maintain the game of the players in the context of the match taking place with balance.
According to VFF leaders, the fact that the whole team maintained stability after being equalized and continued to deploy their playing style according to the proposed plan has contributed decisively to the overall result.
Besides congratulations, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan also requested the team to continue to closely follow the professional plan built before the tournament, focus on physical recovery and carefully analyze the situations in the first match, maintain competition discipline, prepare physical condition and tactics for the next matches, towards the goals set at the tournament.
To promptly encourage and recognize achievements, VFF leaders decided to reward 500 million VND to the Vietnamese women's team. This encourages the fighting spirit and efforts of the whole team in the preparation process as well as the upcoming competition.
Previously, at the post-match press conference, coach Mai Duc Chung said that the two teams had similar levels and the Vietnamese women's team had well taken advantage of the opportunity to win.
Midfielder Ngan Thi Van Su - the player who scored two goals in the match - said that the whole team followed the tactics of the coaching staff and maintained concentration throughout 90 minutes. She also affirmed that the team will continue to review the situations that have occurred to adjust and improve in the following matches.
