Vietnam players gather late due to changing V.League match schedule

Some Vietnamese players will not be able to gather as planned due to the change in the competition schedule of round 3 of V.League 2025-2026.

On August 26, Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) announced the adjustment of the match schedule for The Cong Viettel vs Becamex HCMC in round 3 of V.League 2025-2026.

Accordingly, the match will take place at 7:15 p.m. on August 30, instead of 7:15 p.m. on August 29 as originally scheduled. The reason comes from the fact that many routes in Hanoi will be limited to serve the rehearsal of the parade and parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2 (A80).

The change in the competition schedule affects the gathering plans of the national team and U23 Vietnam. Many players of The Cong Viettel and Becamex HCMC had to postpone the training day compared to the original plan.

In this gathering, The Cong Viettel contributed up to 6 players, including goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet, midfielder Truong Tien Anh, defender Phan Tuan Tai (national team); midfielders Nguyen Cong Phuong, Khuat Van Khang, Dang Tuan Phong (U23 Vietnam).

On Becamex HCMC's side, Nguyen Hoang Minh Khoa is the only player called up to the national team.

According to the previous plan, after round 3 of V.League 2025-2026 ended on August 29, the two teams will gather.

In this gathering, the Vietnam team will have two friendly matches with domestic clubs Nam Dinh and Hanoi Police to prepare for the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers in October.

Meanwhile, U23 Vietnam only has a few days to prepare for the 2026 U23 Asian qualifiers taking place in Phu Tho. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will face Bangladesh (3.9), Singapore (6.9) and Yemen (9.9).
