After leading the ASEAN All Stars team to defeat Man United 1-0 (evening of May 28) in a friendly match at Bukit Jalil Stadium (Malaysia), coach Kim Sang-sik, his assistants and 4 Vietnamese players Hai Long, Van Vi, Hoang Duc, Duy Manh will return home to prepare to join the national team.
The Vietnam team will gather from May 29 in Hanoi to prepare for the away match on June 10 at Bukit Jalil Stadium in Malaysia. The match will take place in Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup final qualifiers.
Notably, after the match with Man United, coach Kim Sang-sik mentioned a player on the Malaysian team and affirmed that this is the face that the Vietnamese team needs to pay attention to in the upcoming match. That is the captain of the ASEAN All Stars team - Sergio Aguero.
" Sergio Aguero plays an important role in boosting the team spirit. Obviously, this is a player who could be a threat to the Vietnam team in the upcoming match against Malaysia in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup on June 10. We have to prepare to get the best result against host Malaysia," said coach Kim Sang-sik.
Sergio Aguero is an Argentine striker who became a Malaysian citizen in September 2022. He is one of five Malaysian players selected to the ASEAN All Stars squad.
This season, this player has played 18 times for Sri Pahang FC, scoring 4 goals, having two assists and receiving 7 yellow cards.
With his physical strength, competitive spirit and being awarded the captain's armband by coach Kim Sang-sik of the ASEAN All Stars team are proof of Sergio Aguero's role. This is definitely the name that the Vietnamese team will pay much attention to during the preparation for the match against the Malaysian team.
The match between the two teams will take place on June 10.
