On the evening of November 30, U17 Vietnam won 4-0 against U17 Malaysia to win a ticket to the 2026 U17 Asian Cup finals, ending an impressive week of competition.
Accordingly, coach Cristiano Roland's team won all 5 matches against U17 Malaysia (4-0), U17 Singapore (4-0), U17 Northern Mariana Islands (14-0), U17 Hong Kong (China) (2-0) and U17 Macau (China) (4-0).
U17 Vietnam scored 30 goals without conceding any. This is considered an impressive number for a national team in the Asian qualifiers.
Notably, Mr. Roland's students also showed diverse scoring ability with up to 13 players scoring, spread across all lines. Of which, Manh Cuong was the top scorer with 5 goals.
In addition, Dai Nhan, Van Duong, Minh Thuy, Manh Cuong and Ngoc Son - each also brought home 3 goals; Sy Bach, Nguyen Luc, Dinh Vy scored 2 goals; Hoang Viet, Quy Vuong, Duy Khang, Anh Hao each scored 1 goal.
In order to encourage and motivate the impressive achievements, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation has rewarded U17 Vietnam with 600 million VND.
The 2026 U17 Asian Cup finals will take place in Saudi Arabia next year. Currently, Uzbekistan is the defending champion of this tournament.
