The U23 Vietnam team is in Group A in the 2026 U23 Asian Cup finals with host Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Kyrgyzstan.
Accordingly, U23 Saudi Arabia is the champion of the 2022 tournament, considered a strong candidate for the throne this season. Meanwhile, U23 Jordan also has a good record with 3rd place in 2013 and two quarter-finals in 2016 and 2020.
In addition, U23 Kyrgyzstan, although participating for the first time, has shown clear progress, winning a ticket to the final round as the group leader in the qualifying round.
With the achievement of 6 consecutive appearances in the final round and being placed in the number 2 seed group, U23 Vietnam has every basis to confidently compete.
The Vietnam Football Federation has proactively prepared carefully, adjusting the competition schedule of domestic tournaments to create the best conditions for the team.
The core squad from the U22 team has been gathered, trained and competed internationally since the end of 2024, contributing to helping U23 Vietnam win the Southeast Asian U23 Championship for the third consecutive time, while accumulating experience for two important goals: the 33rd SEA Games and the 2026 U23 Asian Cup finals.
In particular, in the upcoming period, VFF will coordinate with the Qatar Football Federation (according to a cooperation agreement from 2023) to organize two friendly matches with U23 Qatar - during a training trip in the UAE in October 2025.
Then, in November 2025, U23 Vietnam will participate in an international tournament in China - a tournament that gathers Asia's top U23 teams. This is an opportunity for the team to continue to perfect tactics, improve qualifications and accumulate experience against big goals ahead.
