Another overseas Vietnamese player called up to U23 Vietnam

The U23 Vietnam team will gather again from October 4 in Hanoi, coinciding with the time the national team gathered during the FIFA Days in October.

This is an activity within the long-term plan of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games and the 2026 U23 Asian Cup finals.

In this training list, in addition to the players called up to the national team to compete in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, many familiar faces continue to participate such as Pham Ly Duc, Le Van Thuan, Nguyen Van Truong and Nguyen Ngoc My - factors that left their mark in the U23 Asian qualifiers.

Notably, U23 Vietnam has the appearance of rookie Nguyen Vadim (Da Nang). Born in 2005 in Russia, Vadim has a Vietnamese father and a Russian mother. This 1m75 tall player plays versatile in the central midfielder and winger positions, and has just joined Da Nang in the 2025-2026 season. With the addition of Vadim, the team currently has three overseas Vietnamese players including Tran Thanh Trung, Le Viktor and Nguyen Vadim.

Because head coach Kim Sang-sik is focusing on the Vietnam national team for the two matches against Nepal, the professional work of U23 Vietnam continues to be assigned to head coach Dinh Hong Vinh.

According to the plan, U23 Vietnam will practice at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center until October 7 before leaving for the UAE. The team will play two friendly matches with U23 Qatar on October 9 and 13. These are considered important testing matches, helping the coaching staff review the force, perfect the playing style and accumulate experience for upcoming goals.
