U23 Vietnam participates in CFA Team China 2026 with the main orientation of reviewing forces and testing the competition system. Acting head coach Dinh Hong Vinh is assigned the task of operating the squad, thereby evaluating each position to build a framework towards regional and continental U23 tournaments in the coming period.
Compared to opponents in the same tournament such as U23 Thailand, U23 China or U23 North Korea, the force of U23 Vietnam has an age difference. Most of the squad is a group of U21 players, only adding some older players.
In addition, the team has limited preparation time when gathering late, leading to a lack of cohesion in operation. Position and coordination errors therefore appear, but are considered necessary data for adjustment.
After 2 matches, many players have been used for different durations. In the last match against U23 China, the rotation ability continued to be maintained when the coaching staff wanted to check the remaining options.
On the other side, U23 China also made many personnel changes during the match to test the squad. In the match against U23 North Korea, they changed significantly compared to the starting lineup and had difficulty controlling the game. However, overall, the home team still maintained a playing style that leaned towards physical strength, using long balls and speeding up deployment from their own half.
In attacking situations, U23 China combined wing attack and direct central attack. This is a direct challenge for U23 Vietnam's defense system in organizing and controlling space in front of the goal.
The match between U23 Vietnam and U23 China takes place at 6:40 PM today (March 31), live on FPT Play.
