Is it unusual to travel on the road many times a day?
According to Dr. Yegorta, consultant gastroenterologist at Apollo Manikonda Clinic (India), the frequency of bowel movements is very diverse in each person.
Some people travel conveniently every day, some go every other day, and some even go only once a week. What is normal for one person may not be normal for another, Yegorta explained.
So what if a person goes out about three times a day? The doctor said that if this is a long-term habit and stools have a normal shape, there is nothing to worry about. However, if this condition occurs with symptoms of discomfort, pain or excess fluid and stiffness, medical intervention should be sought.
To maintain a healthy digestive system and regular bowel habits, Dr. Yegorta recommends some important lifestyle changes. First of all, eating more fiber from fruits, vegetables, beans and whole grains will help the stools soften and get rid of them easily. At the same time, users should drink enough water and can supplement probiotics such as yogurt, salted watermelon to support the digestive system.
In addition, regular physical activity also helps increase bowel movements. The doctor also recommends maintaining a fixed daily schedule to help the body form habits. Pay attention to the types of foods consumed because some can cause constipation or diarrhea depending on each person's location.
Finally, managing stress through meditation and yoga helps reduce negative effects on the intestines, and should not delay when feeling the need to go on a daily diet because this can easily cause constipation.
When should you worry?
Dr. Vikas Jindal, a gastroenterologist at Birla CK Hospital, Delhi (India), said that if lifestyle changes do not improve the condition of irregular bowel movements, it can be a sign of underlying diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome, hypothyroidism or nutritional disorders. Mr. Jindal also emphasized the need to see a doctor immediately when symptoms such as severe pain, bloody stools or unexplained weight loss appear.
Gastroenterologist Rahul Dubbaka from CARE Hospital, Hyderabad added that laxatives, bulkants and stimulants can be temporarily used to aid digestion, but caution is needed and should only be used under the guidance of a doctor.
Going out many times a day is not necessarily an unusual sign if it is a stable habit and does not have serious symptoms. Maintaining a reasonable diet, healthy living and monitoring digestive health is the best way to ensure a healthy digestive system.
