Mr. Nguyen Minh Phuong - Head of the Aircraft Engineering Department, Technical Department (Vietnam Airlines Corporation) said that the unit always clearly defines its "backbone" position and role in the Corporation's operating chain.
He shared that work pressure for technicians is an inevitable part of the job. However, instead of being wary of objective difficulties, the technical team chose to adapt proactively, ensuring the best aircraft resources for the commercial sector in the spirit of absolute safety.
To directly respond to fuel prices, Mr. Phuong said that the Technical Committee has drastically implemented a series of practical and breakthrough technical solutions.
One of the focuses is optimizing engine performance through a periodic engine washing program and especially researching and applying new solutions such as "drying" aircraft.

These efforts not only help reduce drag, optimize fuel consumption but also demonstrate the unit's responsibility in minimizing costs for the Corporation.
In addition, the smooth and close coordination with partner units to optimize aircraft maintenance schedules is also carried out scientifically, so that every hour the aircraft is ground is utilized most effectively.
However, the current challenge does not stop at the cost problem.
Mr. Phuong said that the shortage of engines and replacement equipment is putting enormous pressure on the technical team. Notably, Vietnam Airlines' modern fleet - Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 aircraft, which are now in the 10-14 year old stage - is beginning to move to the "old aircraft" stage with complex maintenance requirements and more technical problems arising.
In that context, the pressure to upgrade services towards 5-star standards further requires the meticulousness and speed of mechanics.
Mr. Phuong and his colleagues at the Aircraft Engineering Department have constantly delved into researching solutions from manufacturers, and at the same time built their own response scenarios.
He emphasized that flexibility and creativity are key to quickly fixing errors, minimizing negative impacts on customer experience, even when the supply of supplies is facing many obstacles.
Instead of simply implementing according to available exploitation plans, the Technical Committee has proactively analyzed the current situation of the aircraft fleet to advise in return for business operations.
This proactiveness not only helps the Corporation have a more realistic view of resources but also shows the bravery of technicians: always controlling the situation in all situations" - Mr. Phuong said.
