On August 21, Mr. Nguyen Tien Nhuong - Chairman of the Trade Union of Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company (Quang Ninh) said that from the beginning of 2026 to now, the Company's Trade Union has coordinated with professional departments to implement many activities to care for the material and spiritual life of union members and workers.
Caring from practical things
One of the activities implemented by the Company's Trade Union is direct care for employees through welfare programs. From January 2026, the Company spent 550,000 VND on birthday gifts for employees, of which professional expenses were 350,000 VND, and the Trade Union spent 200,000 VND.
The Trade Union also conducted surveys and collected dossiers to send to TKV Trade Union to request the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour to support 36 union members and workers suffering from critical illnesses and occupational diseases in the program "Gifts from the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress".
In addition, the Company implemented a welfare program for miners, weekend resorts for 71 workers who suffered work accidents, occupational diseases, and health problems of type IV and V organized by the TKV Trade Union. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the TKV Trade Union, all employees and workers in the Company were given gifts worth 300,000 VND/person.
Along with that, the Trade Union coordinated to implement the 2026 resort support treatment plan, organizing 161 CNVCLĐ to go on vacation in Cua Lo - Nghe An province and Moc Chau - Son La.
For workers working in hot weather conditions, the Company adjusts working hours reasonably for the outdoor workforce, fully equips ventilation fans and sun protection umbrellas. The health station distributes Vitamin C; the life workshop cooks salt porridge, black bean sweet soup, and lemonade to serve workers.
The Company's Trade Union also equipped 1 "freezing cabinet" for the worker's guesthouse area at the coal processing construction site, contributing to improving living conditions for workers.
Concern for the health and housing of miners
The work of taking care of workers' health is also focused on by the Company and the Trade Union. The Company has organized the first periodic health check-up in 2026 for 2,841 people, reaching 98%. After the check-up, 68 people were sent for specialist examination; 9 workers were sent for lung washing; 32 people were sent for health assessment due to work accidents and retired early; and at the same time, compensation and accident benefits were implemented for 16 people.
Notably, the housing rent support policy continues to be maintained for workers working in mines. Accordingly, workers with wives and children living together are supported 600,000 VND/person/month, of which professional fees are 500,000 VND/person/month, and trade union fees are 100,000 VND/person/month.
For workers who do not have wives and children living together renting houses, the support level is 400,000 VND/person/month, of which professional expenses are 300,000 VND/person/month, and the Trade Union spends 100,000 VND/person/month.
This is a policy of practical significance for workers, especially those who have to work far from home, contributing to reducing living costs and creating conditions for workers to stabilize their lives.
The Nui Beo Coal Trade Union also aims to improve the living environment of workers in collective housing areas.
Responding to the program to build a "Clean - Beautiful - Civilized" mine worker housing area, periodically on the last Saturday of the month, the Trade Union presides over and coordinates with relevant units to direct the organization of environmental sanitation at worker dormitories.
The Trade Union also coordinated with professional departments to review and assess the condition of facilities and equipment at the Company's collective housing areas for timely supplementation and repair.
In activities to improve living conditions, the Trade Union has equipped 267 sets of light curtains at beds in worker dormitories.
A small activity but creating closeness and practicality for workers is the free haircut program. The Trade Union continues to organize free haircuts for workers living in the Company's worker dormitories, organized once a month on Sundays.
Activities from health care, housing support, resorts to improving each living condition in the collective area show the quite comprehensive companionship of the Trade Union organization of Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company with workers.
