On May 2nd, Mr. Pham Hoai Phuong - Chairman of the Vietnam Construction Trade Union said that the industry union has requested its affiliated units to organize practical activities of Workers' Month associated with the Action Month on Occupational Safety and Health in 2026 and the 140th anniversary of International Labor Day May 1st, with focus and key points, mainly organized at the grassroots level, attracting a large number of union members and workers to participate. Activities must be practical, taking workers as the center, grassroots trade unions as the foundation for deployment, digital transformation as a tool, and actual effectiveness as a measure.
The Vietnam Construction Trade Union sets a target that in Workers' Month, 70% of enterprises with 100 or more employees will implement at least 1 activity to respond to Workers' Month 2026, which will be spread in the press and media.
Strive for 10% of union members and workers to participate in proposing initiatives, technical improvements, and solutions to improve labor productivity; of which at least 30% of initiatives are applied in practice at agencies, units, and businesses.
Affiliated trade union levels continue to organize effective activities, which are widely welcomed by union members and workers, and are concerned and supported by Party committees, authorities, and employers at all levels; and at the same time focus on implementing a number of activities such as organizing the "May Dialogue" Program and the "Union Members Contributing Opinions to Building Vietnam Trade Union in the New Era" Forum; organizing the "Thank you to Workers" Program and caring for the material and spiritual life of union members and workers - in which, the trade union coordinates to organize "Trade Union Meals"; mobilizing employers, heads of agencies, units, and businesses to improve the quality of lunch meals; supplementing meals for overtime workers, working in heavy and hazardous environments; paying attention to living conditions and living environment of union members and workers in boarding houses and construction sites.
Organizing the "Sustainable Labor Skills - Employment Day": Subordinate trade union levels proactively coordinate with experts, authorities at the same level, vocational education institutions and relevant agencies to organize the "Sustainable Skills - Employment Day" Program, ensuring practicality, efficiency, and suitability to the actual and specific conditions of agencies, units, and enterprises. Focus on organizing consulting and orienting activities to improve professional skills, digital skills, and skills to adapt to the requirements of the labor market in the context of digital transformation, green transformation and international integration; introduce and guide workers to participate in retraining programs, advanced training, and career change.
