Choose the right aquarium
Ornamental fish/goldfish need a spacious living space to fully develop. Accordingly, each goldfish should be kept in a tank with a minimum capacity of 37 - 57 liters. Tanks that are too small and do not have a water filtration system will easily lead to pollution and will affect the health of the goldfish.
Therefore, housewives should pay attention to equipping water filters and necessary oxygen pumps to maintain stable water quality in the aquarium.
Ensure water quality
Water quality is one of the most important factors in keeping goldfish healthy. Water must be treated thoroughly before being pumped into the aquarium, for example, using tap water that has been filtered to remove impurities.
Factors such as pH, temperature, ammonia, nitrite and dissolved oxygen need to be checked regularly to keep the water environment clean. In addition, regular water changes (about 20 - 30% of the water volume per week) are necessary to avoid the accumulation of toxic substances in the tank.
Fish Diet
Goldfish have a rather sensitive digestive system, so housewives should pay attention to choosing the right food such as pellets, live algae, or homemade food from green vegetables...
The amount of food should be just enough, avoid excess, it is best to feed goldfish 2 to 3 times a day to ensure they consume all the food.
Diverse living environment
The aquarium is not only a place to live but also needs to be decorated to create an environment that stimulates the natural growth of goldfish.
Artificial aquatic plants or small landscapes in the tank will be the right choice. However, avoid placing too many decorations in the tank, which will limit the swimming space of the fish.
Lighting is also something to pay attention to because it will help goldfish maintain their day and night cycle as well as keep their colors bright.
Lighting for 8-12 hours per day is ideal, however the aquarium should not be placed in direct sunlight to avoid temperature fluctuations.
