At about 16:30 on July 2, on National Highway 20, through Village 5, Ward 3, Bao Loc City (Lam Dong Province), a serious traffic accident occurred.
At this time, the passenger bus with license plate 49H-030.64 was driven by driver Nguyen Hoang Vu (39 years old, residing in Quang Ngai province), traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Lam Dong.
When reaching Bao Loc Pass about 1km, the passenger bus encountered a traffic jam due to the construction of a cross-culvert at the B'Lao Sre intersection, with vehicles lining up for a long time.
While overtaking the stopped vehicles, driver Vu drove the passenger bus completely into the opposite lane and headed the motorbike driven by K (16 years old, residing in Village 5, Ward 3, Bao Loc) across the road.
Images recorded by local security cameras show the passenger bus recklessly overtaking at high speed, completely encroaching on the opposite lane.
Meanwhile, the motorbike driven by K swerved through the space between two cars that were stopping to cross the road when it was hit by a passenger bus, dragging them for dozens of meters.
The accident caused K to die on the spot. The motorbike was dragged and severely damaged. K is an 11th grade student at a high school in Ward 3, Bao Loc.
Immediately after the accident, the Traffic Police force blocked Bao Loc Pass (under the Traffic Police Department, Lam Dong Provincial Police) and the Police of Ward 3 Bao Loc were present at the scene to regulate traffic, coordinate the investigation of the scene, and investigate the cause of the incident.
Recorded on July 2, the construction unit of the cross-culverts at the B'Lao cre intersection on National Highway 20 continued the project after many days of suspension.
Due to the influence of this project, vehicles are only allowed to travel in one direction through the area, leading to congestion lasting many kilometers in both directions.
At the time of the accident, traffic through the area was jammed for more than 5km. The Traffic Police force has deployed officers and soldiers to coordinate with the construction unit to regulate, divert traffic, and ensure traffic safety in the cross-culverts area under construction.
