On July 2, Lai Chau Provincial Police said that they had submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Public Security to submit to the President to posthumously award the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal to Captain Ha Van Minh.
Previously, on the afternoon of June 28, while performing patrol and control tasks to ensure security and order in Muong So commune, the working group of the Traffic Police Department discovered 2 motorbikes violating traffic laws. Captain Ha Van Minh signaled to stop the vehicle for inspection.
However, the subjects did not comply with the order but recklessly increased the speed, one subject stabbed Captain Ha Van Minh directly and then ran away. Comrade Ha Van Minh was seriously injured.
Although he was wholeheartedly treated by his teammates and doctors, due to the seriousness of his injuries, he passed away at 8:03 (July 2).
Recognizing the heroic sacrifice of the comrade, on July 2, General Luong Tam Quang - Minister of Public Security - signed a decision to promote the rank from Captain to Major.
