How to make ginger tea after dinner that is good for the kidneys

Quang Minh |

A cup of warm ginger tea after dinner has long been used by many families as a drink good for the kidneys.

Ginger contains many active compounds, among which gingerol, shogaol and phenolic compounds are prominent. These substances are studied for their antioxidant and inflammatory response regulating properties.

Ginger is also related to reducing oxidative stress and improving blood sugar.

A simple way is to use 2-3 slices of fresh ginger, equivalent to about 5-10 g of ginger, wash it and slice it thinly. Put ginger in about 250-300 ml of water, simmer for 5-10 minutes and then let it cool a little.

You can add a few drops of lemon juice to create a flavor that is easy to drink, but you should not add sugar, honey or syrup, especially in overweight, diabetic or fatty liver people.

You should drink it while it is still warm, about 30-60 minutes after dinner, instead of drinking a large amount of water right before bedtime.

The National Kidney Foundation ranks ginger in the group of spices that can be used to create flavor instead of salt. This is a valuable point for kidney health, because controlling sodium levels in the diet is an important part of nutrition in people with kidney disease.

For people with healthy kidneys, drinking a cup of unsweetened ginger tea after dinner may be a reasonable choice.

Ginger tea should be considered a small option in a kidney-healthy lifestyle, not a therapeutic drink.

Ginger used in food is generally considered safe. However, ginger can cause abdominal discomfort, heartburn, diarrhea or mouth irritation in some people; at the same time, herbs can interact with drugs.

People with severe chronic kidney disease, undergoing dialysis, having to limit water intake, or using a lot of medication should consult a doctor before maintaining ginger tea daily. Do not arbitrarily switch to using ginger extract tablets or high doses with the thought "the more the better".

A cup of warm, sugar-free ginger tea after dinner can therefore be an easy habit for healthy people.

To protect the kidneys in the long term, more solid evidence is still controlling blood pressure and blood sugar, limiting salt, maintaining a reasonable weight, drinking enough water according to personal needs and using medication as prescribed.
