At the program "Newlyweds", Ms. Dang Thi Thuy (36 years old) and Mr. Luu Van Phuong (36 years old) from Vinh Phuc, currently living in Ho Chi Minh City, brought a touching story.
Both had gone through broken marriages before finding each other. Mr. Phuong - a disabled man with two children - used to work as a CNC programmer but lost his job after the pandemic and now makes a living selling lottery tickets. Ms. Thuy - a single mother - makes a living by doing eyelash extensions and selling taffy.
Fate brought them together at a karaoke bar. Mr. Phuong's unique singing voice made a strong impression on Ms. Thuy. At first it was just curiosity, but the next time they met, when Ms. Thuy took the initiative to carry Mr. Phuong into the bar, it seemed to connect their hearts.
After four months of dating, Thuy decided to confess her love to her family. However, her parents did not agree because they were concerned about Phuong's situation. Faced with opposition, Phuong sadly moved to Binh Thuan to work, but Thuy was determined to pursue her love.
She traveled 200km on a three-wheeled vehicle with Mr. Phuong to Ho Chi Minh City to start a new life. She shared: “No matter how hard it is, I still want to be close to him, because I truly love him.”
Currently, the couple lives in a small rented room with their four children, including three stepchildren and one biological child. Although life is difficult, they always support each other to overcome challenges.
Sharing with the two MCs at the program, Mr. Phuong talked about his wife's bad habits when they got married. He said his wife often got angry. Meanwhile, Ms. Thuy "criticized" her husband for snoring loudly and being a bit jealous. She just wanted her husband to change his hard job of selling lottery tickets to a better job.
On the show, Mr. Phuong suddenly knelt down and proposed to Ms. Thuy: "For a long time, I still owe you a perfect wedding. I promise to make it happen."
Even though it was just a simple grass ring, Mr. Phuong's action moved the whole studio.
Ms. Thuy expressed that she does not need luxurious material things, she just wants her family to always be happy and be able to build a better life.
Through the program, the two MCs hope that Ms. Thuy's family will open their hearts to accept Mr. Phuong, so that the whole family can be reunited.
