First, you should choose the right type of sweet potato. Sweet potatoes, purple sweet potatoes or yellow sweet potatoes are suitable for grilling because they have natural sweetness and soft texture. When choosing sweet potatoes, you should prioritize medium-sized tubers, not too large so that the sweet potatoes cook evenly and retain moisture inside.

After washing, do not peel because the peel helps keep the potatoes moist when grilled. You can use a fork to gently make a few holes in the surface of the potatoes to allow steam to escape, helping the potatoes cook evenly. A small tip is to soak the potatoes in diluted salt water for about 10-15 minutes, then dry them before putting them in the frying pot. This method helps the potatoes become softer and sweeter when grilled.

Temperature and time are also very important. The frying pot should be heated at 180 degrees Celsius for about 3-5 minutes before grilling. Then, grill the sweet potatoes at 180-200 degrees Celsius for 25-35 minutes depending on the size. During grilling, you should flip the sweet potatoes 1-2 times to cook evenly and have beautiful golden skin.

If you want the potatoes to be more fragrant, you can apply a thin layer of oil or wrap the potatoes in foil for the first 15 minutes, then open the foil to make the potatoes have a beautiful color. When the potatoes are cooked, let them cool for about 5 minutes before enjoying, the potatoes will be softer and sweeter.

With these simple tips, you can completely make grilled sweet potatoes in a fragrant, soft, and non-dry oil-free frying pot right at home.
