The Vietnamese futsal team will enter the second match in the group stage of the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship against Timor-Leste, aiming to win 3 more points to soon win a ticket to the semi-finals.
After a 4-0 victory over the Myanmar futsal team on the opening day, coach Diego Giustozzi's students are feeling quite comfortable before the next match.
With the relative strength and current form, Chau Doan Phat and his teammates are expected to continue to maintain the winning streak to soon complete the goal of passing the group stage.
In the opposite direction, the Timor-Leste futsal team is not highly rated in Group A as they still have limited international competition experience as well as squad quality. Therefore, the possibility of creating a surprise against a championship contender like the Vietnamese futsal team is not easy.
In head-to-head history, the two teams have only met 3 times in regional tournaments and the Vietnamese futsal team has won with a large margin, respectively 8-1 (in 2018), 7-1 (in 2022) and 4-1 (in 2024). These statistics show the clear superiority of the Vietnamese futsal team.
If they play at their best, coach Diego Giustozzi's team has every reason to aim for a victory, even a big win, thereby soon winning the right to enter the semi-finals one match early.
