3 industries predicted to have labor shortages in 2025

Quỳnh Chi |

It is forecasted that by 2025, there will be a shortage of human resources in 3 industries. To seize job opportunities, workers should choose a suitable major that has prospects and matches their interests.

Information technology

Information Technology (IT) is a field that never stops developing. Electronic devices are constantly being innovated, the popularity of social networks... makes IT a pioneering industry, always lacking human resources and requiring advanced qualifications.

According to statistics in the development period of technology 4.0, the number of workers needed in the information technology industry is very large, the Ho Chi Minh City market alone is estimated to need about 24,000 people/year. The whole country needs about 78,000 workers specializing in information technology each year.

The need for human resources is huge, but the actual statistics show that the number of students pursuing information technology is only low, about 50,000. Meanwhile, the number of students who graduate from school does not count whether they follow the right major or not. This is a big challenge to supplement human resources for the future of the IT profession.

IT is a specialized field that can help young people orient themselves to build a professional career or pursue it as a "money-making side job". With an attractive salary and high benefits, an IT specialist can receive an average income of up to 1,000 USD/month.

Marketing

Marketing plays an important role in most organizations, individuals, and businesses that trade, advertise, and transmit information. Meanwhile, this industry is currently considered to be lacking in human resources due to the rapid development of Internet technology.

In the future, the effectiveness of sales activities, profits, revenue, customers… will certainly be greatly affected by marketing and it also governs the current business activities. No business can easily develop without Marketing.

According to the Center for Human Resource Demand Forecasting and Labor Market Information of Ho Chi Minh City, since 2020, the Marketing industry has a large shortage of human resources, in fact needing 10,000 or more workers each year. It is the leading field in the 6 fields with the highest demand for human resources. The salary for the Marketing industry is not fixed but is quite high compared to the general income level.

Mechanical Technology - Automation, Electricity - Electronics

Digital Manufacturing is the integration of Mechanical Engineering Technology, Information Technology, and Automatic Control. Training human resources for future digital manufacturing is training engineers in Mechatronics Engineering.

The 4.0 industrial revolution and the integration process are requiring Vietnam to rapidly promote the development of the mechatronics industry, promising to open up many broad job opportunities for this field of study. According to the report of the General Statistics Office, by 2030, the demand for human resources in the mechatronics industry will reach about 1.2 million people.
