Stability after the merger
According to the An Giang Provincial Federation of Labor, the whole province has nearly 20,000 operating enterprises, with a registered capital of more than 308,000 billion VND, the workforce of workers and civil servants (CNVCLD) working in agencies, units, and enterprises with trade unions is more than 124,300 people.
Before the merger of the two provincial labor federations of Kien Giang and An Giang (old) there were nearly 203,000 union members/more than 211,000 employees, 2,956 grassroots unions, and trade unions. After completing the dissolvement of 18 trade unions at the grassroots level, 2,171 grassroots trade unions of state administrative agencies and public service units received 100% of their salaries from the state budget, and merged the provincial and provincial-level labor unions, the whole province currently has 116,002 union members/124,317 employees; 785 grassroots trade unions and employees.
Cadres, union members, and workers enthusiastically compete in labor production and skills are gradually improved, directly contributing to the socio-economic development of the province and the development of trade union organizations. Compliance with labor laws, labor relations between employees and employers (NSDLD) are increasingly harmonious, stable, and changing positively, the number of collective labor disputes has decreased, especially in enterprises with trade unions.
As an organization representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of employees, the trade union has promptly proposed and recommended that employees implement policies for employees such as: salary, bonus, support for housing rental, electricity, water, entertainment and recreation conditions, etc., thereby many employees have become more attached to the business.
Innovation and diversification of methods of mobilizing the establishment of grassroots trade unions
Implementing the Resolution of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on promoting the development of union members, establishing grassroots unions in non-state enterprises by 2028, with a vision to 2033, and at the same time, based on the targets and tasks assigned by the General Confederation of Labor annually, the Executive Committee of the An Giang Provincial Federation of Labor has developed a plan, issued a Resolution on allocating targets for developing union members and establishing grassroots unions for all levels of trade unions to implement.
With the great political determination of trade unions at all levels, in recent times, the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions has had many innovations and diversified the way of mobilizing workers and laborers to participate in trade union organizations. In particular, focus on developing union members and establishing grassroots unions in non-state economic sector enterprises.

As a result, in the 2023 - 2025 period, more than 43,500 new union members have been developed, newly established 370 grassroots unions in non-state enterprises (of which, 338 grassroots unions were newly established in non-state enterprises with 25 or more employees). The work of building strong grassroots trade unions and unions has been focused on by trade unions at all levels, the quality of grassroots trade union and union activities has been increasingly improved.
After the merger, the An Giang Provincial Federation of Labor organized 8 conferences to improve professional skills, trade union work skills and content on document development, personnel for the 2025 - 2030 term congress for nearly 1,500 staff.

Chairman of the An Giang Provincial Federation of Labor Do Tran Thinh said: The Trade Union has had meaningful and practical programs and activities to welcome the Provincial Trade Union Congress. Including the establishment of grassroots trade unions before the congress. The establishment of grassroots trade unions is also a key activity program that the province focuses on implementing, especially after the merger of provinces and the rearrangement of administrative units. In 2025, trade unions at all levels in the province have actively implemented and propagated to help businesses understand and participate in trade union organizations and establish grassroots trade unions.
From the practical work of the labor movement and trade union activities in the past term, in the coming time, the Trade Union will pay attention to planning, training, fostering, and building a team of trade union officials at all levels, especially grassroots trade union officials with capacity, courage, and enthusiasm to meet the requirements of tasks and practical activities. Focus on fostering knowledge, practical experience, and mobilization and persuasion skills to complete the task of developing union members and establishing grassroots unions in non-state enterprises in the new term.
