According to the political report at the Congress, the Rach Gia Ward Union (An Giang) was established from July 1, 2025, receiving and managing 115 grassroots unions (CDCS) and trade unions with 7,587 union members.
Rach Gia ward currently has more than 250,000 people, the most populous ward in the country (including 9 wards). The 1st Congress of the Rach Gia Ward Trade Union, term 2025-2030, is an important political event, taking place in the context of the whole country implementing the 2-level local government model, marking the birth of the Rach Gia Ward Trade Union organization.
In the period of 2023 - 2025, the team of union members and employees of the ward will increase in quantity, gradually improve in quality, meeting the requirements of socio-economic development and union activities. The income and working conditions of workers continue to be improved.
After its establishment, the Ward Union Executive Committee has mobilized the enterprise union to proactively review, propose, and sign collective labor agreements with more beneficial content for employees.
The grassroots trade unions coordinate with the government, unit heads and business owners to pay bonuses and give gifts on holidays and Tet, support union members and workers in difficult circumstances, support work accidents, visit sick people... Maintain un interest-free revolving capital contributions of over 1.5 billion VND; guarantee 25 union members and employees to borrow from banks to develop the family economy, the amount of 1.2 billion VND. Emulation movements are innovated, creative, applying methods or attracting union members and workers to participate.
Speaking at the Congress, Vice Chairman of the An Giang Provincial Federation of Labor Pham Van Dang affirmed: The Congress is not only an opportunity to express gratitude and inherit the achievements of previous generations; but also a new start for the Rach Gia Ward Trade Union - opening a new development stage - creating a foundation for the Trade Union's activities to become more effective and practical, after perfecting the apparatus according to the new organizational model.
The success of the Rach Gia Ward Trade Union Congress will continue to affirm the position and role of the Trade Union organization; spread the spirit of solidarity, innovation and development; at the same time, be an important basis to contribute to the overall success of the Trade Unions in the province in the coming time.
Immediately after the congress, the Ward Trade Union Executive Committee needs to continue to improve the organizational structure; immediately start implementing the Resolution; develop specific work plans for the entire term with a long-term vision and annual work plans to organize implementation on the basis of closely grasping the operational situation of grassroots trade unions in the area; implement key activities from now until the end of 2025 and the upcoming Lunar New Year of Binh Ngo, Mr. Dang emphasized.
Speaking at the Congress, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoan Xuan - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee - Chairwoman of the Rach Gia Ward People's Council acknowledged the outstanding achievements that the Ward Union has achieved in recent times.
Ms. Xuan hopes that in the coming time, the Rach Gia Ward Trade Union will join hands to overcome difficulties and limitations to continue to develop Trade Union activities strongly, contributing positively to the implementation of the political tasks of the Ward Party Committee.
Strengthening propaganda and political and ideological education work requires closely following the leadership of the Party Committee, the Fatherland Front Committee of the ward and the higher-level trade union, proactively researching and promptly advising the Party Committee on policies, developing the workers' movement and trade union activities. Closely coordinate with the government and political and social organizations, regularly accompanying businesses to increase resources and combined strength for the activities of the Trade Union organization. Coordinate with Party committees, authorities and relevant agencies to build harmonious, stable and progressive labor relations at enterprises, ensuring security for workers and laborers in the area, Ms. Xuan emphasized.
The Congress announced the Decision to appoint the Executive Committee consisting of 17 comrades; the Standing Committee consisting of 5 comrades; the Inspection Committee consisting of 5 comrades and positions in the Executive Committee, the Inspection Committee of the Ward Trade Union, term I, 2025 - 2030 and 2 official delegates to attend the An Giang Provincial Trade Union Congress, the first time, term 2025 - 2030.
Comrade Truong Thanh Kien was appointed to hold the position of Chairman of the Rach Gia Ward Trade Union.
