Trade unions and businesses jointly care for workers
Towards the 97th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2026), on July 25, the grassroots Trade Union of Vietnam Shrimp Export Processing Joint Stock Company (Vinh Loi commune, Ca Mau province) coordinated with the Board of Directors of the enterprise to organize the Trade Union Meal program for 295 union members and workers.
Each meal is worth 95,000 VND, an increase of 50,000 VND compared to daily meals. The menu is supplemented with many nutritious dishes, food safety and hygiene, contributing to improving health and regenerating labor for workers.
The total program budget is more than 28 million VND, of which the enterprise supports 13.275 million VND, and the remaining 14.75 million VND is requested by the grassroots Trade Union to the Ca Mau Provincial Labor Federation to support according to the Trade Union Meal program in 2026.
Leaders of the Ca Mau Provincial Labor Federation, Vinh Loi Commune Trade Union and the Board of Directors of enterprises together had meals, visited, and listened to the thoughts and aspirations of workers.
On this occasion, the grassroots Trade Union also organized birthday celebrations for union members who were born in July and collective exchanges, creating a joyful and cohesive atmosphere in the business.
Mr. Le Van Luu, Director of the Company, shared: Businesses always consider workers as assets of the business. Currently, seafood workers in Ca Mau are very difficult to recruit, so businesses want to retain workers often through trade union organizations to jointly create the most favorable conditions for workers to feel secure and attached to the business.
Creating a premise to improve the quality of midday meals
According to Mr. Long Hong Luu - Chairman of the grassroots Trade Union of Vietnam Shrimp Export Processing Joint Stock Company, the program is implemented to concretize the policy of improving the quality of lunch meals of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and at the same time create conditions for trade unions and businesses to continue dialogue and negotiation to improve the welfare of workers.
From practical activities such as Trade Union Meals, we want workers to feel the concern of businesses and trade union organizations, thereby building a united and close working environment," Mr. Luu shared.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue, a worker at the company, said that her colleagues are very excited to know that they will participate in a common meal with a higher value than usual. "Not only will they eat better, but everyone also has the opportunity to sit down to chat and share after working hours. Organizing birthdays for workers during the month also makes us feel more cared for and attached to the business," Ms. Hue said.
Previously, on July 24, the grassroots Trade Union of Viet Uc Nha Mat Joint Stock Company also organized a Trade Union Meal for 156 union members and workers with meals worth 70,000 VND, contributing to spreading activities to care for workers' lives at enterprises in Ca Mau.
Vice Chairman of Ca Mau Labor Federation Huynh Van Dam said that through many times of organizing Trade Union Meals, businesses have found it practical. Because through this, the connection between businesses and workers is tightened. Currently in Ca Mau, most businesses with many workers organize mid-shift meals for workers with higher values than general regulations.
The fact that many businesses in Ca Mau simultaneously responded to the Trade Union Meal program shows the increasingly close companionship between employers and trade union organizations in caring for workers' lives. Not only meaningful in improving the quality of meals, the program also becomes a bridge for businesses to listen to workers, thereby building a stable, harmonious and sustainable working environment.
