Union members and workers towards the Party Congress:

Trade union officials hope that more workers will be admitted to the Party

Nam Dương |

Trade union officials expect the 14th National Congress of the Party to have policies to support trade union members, small and medium-sized enterprises, creating conditions for workers to directly be admitted to the Party more.

Mr. Luu Kim Hong - Member of the Party Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park Management Authority, Secretary of the Party Cell, Chairman of the Trade Union of Nidec Vietnam Company:

Over the years, the focus on Party development among workers, especially direct production workers, has always been concerned, supported, and facilitated by Party committees and authorities at all levels. Currently, the Party Cell of Nidec Vietnam Company has 12 party members.

According to Mr. Hong, in reality, in many businesses, Party admission for direct workers is still facing many difficulties. First, the situation of workers is fluctuating a lot and quickly, so the time for the Party cell to observe and challenge in order to create sources for Party development is also affected. Second, in many cases, the verification of backgrounds of Party sympathizers is still prolonged, many times before verification is completed, workers have quit their jobs and transferred jobs, so no results are achieved. Third, most "Party awareness training" classes for union members and outstanding workers are organized during the day, while it is very difficult for workers to ask for leave for several consecutive days to attend these classes.

From there, Mr. Hong suggested that it is necessary to consider improving procedures and dossiers to make Party admission for workers more and more convenient; thereby, more direct production workers will be admitted to the Party.

Mr. Le Tan Luu - Chairman of Binh Tan Technology Motorbike Taxi Union, Binh Tri Dong ward, Ho Chi Minh City:

Due to the specific nature of trade union members who are freelancers, working in an informal environment, without a co-government, without trade union funds, while the lives of many union members are still difficult. Therefore, we hope that the Party and State will continue to improve policies for informal workers, especially technology workers, to ensure social security rights, health care and support when encountering risks.

Vietnam has committed at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Summit (COP26) to net emissions at "0" by 2050. To realize this commitment, the Party and State have a policy of green transformation, including the conversion of cars and motorbikes from using gasoline to using electricity.

Currently, many Binh Tan technology motorbike taxi union members and technology drivers still use gasoline cars, and have a need to switch to electric cars to implement the green transformation policy, but face capital difficulties. Therefore, we hope that when implementing the green transformation policy and vehicle conversion, there should be an appropriate roadmap and support mechanism for union members and workers switching from gasoline cars to electric cars to be able to borrow capital at preferential interest rates, avoiding creating financial pressure on low-income workers.

Mr. Tran Van Thang - Chairman of Phu Dinh Ward Trade Union, Ho Chi Minh City:

Phu Dinh ward has many freelancers, migrant workers and most are small-scale enterprises. Therefore, we hope that the 14th National Congress of the Party will propose breakthrough strategies to promote strong economic development. Especially, there will be more practical support policies for small and medium-sized enterprises, helping them stand firm against challenges, thereby ensuring jobs and income for workers, especially the migrant labor force that is directly contributing to the development of the locality.

We also hope that the Party will lead and direct to further concretize the regulations on functions, tasks, powers and responsibilities of ward, commune, and special zone trade unions - a new model when implementing two-level local government. Clearly defining the organizational model will help ward, commune, and special zone trade unions have enough mechanisms and resources to be more in-depth and promptly support free labor groups and union members in small businesses.

In addition, we hope that the Party and State will continue to promote the implementation of priority and preferential policies on social housing, health and education in migrant workers' densely populated areas, helping workers far from home feel secure in "settling down and working", narrowing the gap between rich and poor and ensuring that all people enjoy the common development achievements of the country.

Grassroots trade union officials are sending full faith and expectations to the 14th National Congress of the Party - which will decide the new development steps of the country. With the mindset of being ready to welcome new opportunities and destinies, we believe that the guidelines and policies from the Congress will pave the way for the country to develop and break through," Mr. Thang said.
