From the practice of caring for and accompanying workers at enterprises, grassroots trade union officials in Hung Yen province expressed their respect for the role of the Trade Union organization, and at the same time sent specific expectations and recommendations to the 14th National Party Congress, with the desire that workers continue to be placed in the center of development policies.
Trade unions are the support for workers
In the last days of the year, in the production workshop of Hung Yen Garment Corporation in Pho Hien ward, the working atmosphere becomes more urgent than usual.
Garment lines focus on completing the last orders of the year, everyone hopes for a full Tet after a year of many efforts.
During shift handover hours, Mr. Hoang Xuan Nam - Chairman of the Trade Union of Hung Yen Garment Corporation - directly went to the workshop, together with trade union officials, to disseminate contents related to salary regimes, Tet bonuses and policies to care for workers' lives at the end of the year. The information is publicly and clearly announced right at the workplace, helping workers feel secure and focus on production.
According to him, in the past year, although production and business still faced many pressures, the Trade Union has closely coordinated with businesses to maintain jobs and ensure income for workers; and at the same time paid attention to practical factors such as improving the quality of shift meals, improving working conditions in workshops, and promptly visiting workers who are sick, in labor accidents, or in difficult circumstances.
The Trade Union also organizes activities aimed at workers, such as: Organizing Trade Union meals, cultural exchanges, banh chung wrapping contests between departmental Trade Unions and paying attention to workers far from home.
From the practical operation at the grassroots level, Mr. Hoang Xuan Nam expressed his respect and thanks to the Trade Union organizations at all levels for always caring, directing, and creating conditions for grassroots trade unions to perform their tasks well.

Not only stopping at the story of year-end care, Mr. Hoang Xuan Nam also shared the expectations of workers and laborers for the 14th National Party Congress. According to him, laborers are particularly interested in major guidelines and policies that directly affect their lives and jobs.
Workers hope that the 14th Congress will continue to have more practical policies to improve the material and spiritual life of workers" - Mr. Nam said.
Mr. Nam proposed that the Party and State continue to improve salary policies in the direction of ensuring living standards and accumulation for workers; pay more attention to housing policies and social welfare for workers in industrial zones and clusters; and at the same time create conditions for the Trade Union organization to better promote the role of representing and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights of workers.
Hoping policies will be close to workers' lives
From the garment factory, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh - Chairwoman of the grassroots Trade Union of Hualida Thai Binh Garment Co., Ltd. (Phuc Khanh Industrial Park) brings a very real-life perspective, very close to the lives of workers, especially female workers.
According to Ms. Hanh, garment workers mostly have incomes dependent on orders, high labor intensity, while life still has many worries. Therefore, the companionship of the Trade Union organization is important, helping workers feel secure and attached to the business.
There are times when workers encounter difficulties, if there is no Trade Union standing up to share, listen and propose, it is very easy to develop a feeling of discouragement" - Ms. Hanh said.
At Hualida Thai Binh Garment Co., Ltd., the grassroots Trade Union always strives to play a good role as a bridge between workers and business leaders. From meals during shifts, salary regimes, overtime hours to activities to care for spiritual life, the Trade Union participates with specific responsibilities. According to Ms. Hanh, when the Trade Union plays its role well, businesses are also more convenient in managing and retaining workers.
Sharing about expectations for the 14th National Party Congress, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh said that what workers most desire is still practical and long-term policies. “Not only immediate income, workers really need social housing, schools for their children, and appropriate health services. These are issues that need to be addressed with macro-level policies” - Ms. Hanh expressed.
From the reality of grassroots Trade Union activities, Ms. Hanh also proposed that it is necessary to continue to pay attention to improving the quality of the team of Trade Union officials. According to her, in the context of increasingly complex labor relations, grassroots Trade Union officials need to be systematically trained in labor law, dialogue and negotiation skills to have enough capacity to represent workers.
