Recruitment demand increases sharply
In Da Nang - the industrial and service center of the Central region, the production picture in the first months of 2026 recorded many positive signs. A series of businesses in the fields of seafood processing, garment, electronics, tourism services... have signed new orders, leading to the need to expand production.
Mr. Truong Van Quang - Chairman of the Trade Union of Thuan Phuoc Seafood and Trading Joint Stock Company - said: The enterprise has had abundant export orders right from the beginning of the year, forcing it to increase production scale and recruit about 700 more workers. However, recruiting is not easy even though "the company must increase many support policies such as gasoline money, housing, raising young children to retain and attract workers".
Statistics from the Da Nang Employment Service Center show that businesses in the area currently need about 9,000 workers, but have only recruited more than 300 people. This shows that recruitment demand is far exceeding the market's ability to meet.
Mr. Huynh Cong Hai - Deputy Director of Da Nang Employment Service Center - said: "The labor market in 2026 is very vibrant, with high recruitment demand, especially for unskilled workers. However, the supply in many positions has not been met.
Not only Da Nang, in Hue, the labor picture is also showing remarkable movements. Currently, the labor force of this locality has more than 650,000 people, each year about 10,000 people enter the labor market, including students, graduates, demobilized soldiers and unemployed people. However, the biggest difficulty currently is not the lack of orders but the lack of labor to meet production requirements, showing that recruitment pressure is clearly present.
Need to narrow the supply-demand gap
Reality in the Central region shows that the problem is not in the lack of jobs or orders, but in the "dismatch" between the needs of businesses and the capacity and expectations of workers.
Statistics show that Vietnam currently has about 1.06 million people of working age who are unemployed. Meanwhile, many businesses in industrial parks in the Central region are still continuously posting recruitments but find it difficult to find enough personnel. Manufacturing enterprises need stable, skilled labor or are willing to work in an industrial environment. Meanwhile, a part of workers tend to look for lighter jobs, higher incomes or more flexible conditions.
This situation is not new but has been happening and repeated for decades. Therefore, according to experts, to solve this problem, a synchronous system of solutions is needed, from strengthening career guidance for high school students, improving the quality of vocational training, closer links between schools and businesses, and at the same time helping workers access full information about the job market.
In the context of order recovery in the Central region, many job opportunities are opening up. However, for these opportunities to reach workers, the labor market needs to be effectively "connected" again, contributing to sustainable human resource development for the entire region.
The central labor market is experiencing a notable phenomenon of "self-unemployment". Meaning that a part of workers actively quit their jobs to find better opportunities or change careers. The gap between training and the actual needs of businesses is also an important reason why workers find it difficult to find jobs, while businesses lack people.
