Through dialogue, collective negotiation and regular supervision, many grassroots trade unions in industrial parks in Hai Phong have helped increase the value of lunch meals, improve meal quality, and contribute to practically caring for the lives of workers.

Dialogue to improve meal quality

EVA Hai Phong Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (VSIP Industrial Park) currently has 1,093 trade union members, and the work of caring for the lives of employees is identified by the business leadership as well as grassroots trade unions as a key task.

In the 2020 - 2025 term, the company's Trade Union has coordinated to organize 10 periodic dialogues and 5 employee conferences, receiving and resolving 11 recommendations from employees, reaching about 85%. The recommendations mainly relate to salaries, allowances, working conditions and meal allowances.

From the proposals of employees, the trade union has negotiated 3 times with businesses to adjust the meal allowance, increasing from 24,000 VND to 26,500 VND/portion. Along with that, from the beginning of 2026 to now, the trade union has coordinated to organize 21 inspections to monitor the quality of meals, food safety, and ensure that employees after working hours enjoy delicious, nutritious and hygienic meals.

At Horn Vietnam Co., Ltd. (An Duong Industrial Park), the work of taking care of lunch meals also recorded many positive results. The grassroots trade union has coordinated to supervise lunch meals 15 times and conducted 3 negotiations with businesses, increasing the meal allowance from 22,000 VND to 28,000 VND per serving.

Also in An Duong Industrial Park, the Trade Union of Sanhua Vietnam Co., Ltd. negotiated 3 times to adjust the meal allowance, increasing from 20,000 VND to 22,000 VND per serving. From the beginning of 2026 to now, the trade union has coordinated to supervise meals in 15 shifts, from controlling input materials to preliminary processing, processing, saving samples...

According to Ms. Trang Thi Sao, a worker at the Packaging department of Sanhua Vietnam Co., Ltd., the quality of shift meals is increasingly improved with a rich menu and nutritious rations. In addition to main dishes according to quantity, workers can take more rice and soup according to their needs. "Full meals help us have more energy to work more efficiently," Ms. Sao said.

Pay attention to lunch meals in hot weather

According to representatives of the Trade Union Board of Industrial Parks of Hai Phong City Labor Federation, the quality of lunch meals at enterprises in industrial parks in the city is gradually being improved thanks to the active participation of the Trade Union organization.

Statistics show that the average lunch meal allowance at enterprises in the eastern industrial park of the city currently reaches about 31,000 VND/person/meal, while the western area reaches about 27,000 VND/person/meal. Many enterprises have increased the meal allowance to 40,000 VND/portion to improve welfare and retain workers.

However, some businesses still have a meal allowance of about 17,000 VND/portion, lower than the general level. This is also one of the contents that the Trade Union organization will continue to pay attention to in the coming time through dialogue, collective negotiation and supervision of the implementation of welfare regimes.

In the hot and sunny months of summer, Hai Phong City Labor Federation directs units to increase nutrition and vitamins in shift meals to increase resistance for workers (supplementing fruits and vegetables). Along with that, provide sufficient hygienic drinking water and suitable cooling drinks (cool filtered water, lemon salt water, oresol, herbal tea, fresh milk...), place water bottles in many convenient locations for workers.

From there, helping workers ensure health, regenerate labor capacity, strengthen the bond of workers with trade unions and businesses, and promote harmonious and progressive labor relations in Hai Phong industrial parks.
