Going straight to the essential needs of workers
On April 22, the Da Nang City Labor Federation issued a plan to organize the "Day for Workers' Health" in 2026 at all levels of the City Trade Union.
The goal is to concretize the guidelines and orientations in Resolution No. 72-NQ/TW, strengthen communication, mobilize union members and workers to raise awareness and change behavior towards practicing a healthy lifestyle, regular physical training, proactively preventing diseases, especially occupational diseases.
Mobilize the participation of localities, sectors, and business leaders in caring for, protecting, and improving the health of workers.
Mobilize employers to pay attention to improving working conditions, ensuring meals during shifts, linking workers' health care with building a labor safety culture to create a safe and productive working environment.
At the same time, affirming the role of the Trade Union organization in caring for and protecting workers, contributing to reducing the burden of disease, improving the quality of human resources, and promoting sustainable development.
Mr. Le Van Dai - Standing Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City Labor Federation said: The noteworthy point of this plan is that a series of activities are designed not to be formalistic but to directly address the essential needs of workers.
In which, the free health check-up and consultation program is expected to be implemented from the beginning of June 2026 in Ban Thach ward, with about 1,000 union members and workers belonging to groups working in heavy, hazardous environments or at risk of occupational diseases.
The examination package does not only stop at general check-ups but also includes in-depth content such as thyroid ultrasound, abdominal ultrasound, gender-specific specialist examination and career counseling.
In addition, health care activities are implemented synchronously, from organizing medical knowledge training, nutritional counseling, mental health care to encouraging physical training right at the workplace.
Another highlight is the inclusion of dialogue and negotiation on shift meals in the plan. This is a pressing issue but is often underestimated. When nutrition is ensured, workers' health will be sustainably improved, thereby contributing to improving labor productivity.
Create a shift from awareness to action
Not only stopping at direct care activities, the plan also focuses on communication and awareness change. Slogans such as "Proactive disease prevention - For a healthy Vietnam" or "Health for everyone, happiness for every home" are not only propagandistic but also aimed at forming positive living habits in the community of workers.
Notably, trade unions at all levels are required to promote communication on digital platforms, social networks and the press system. This helps health care information get closer to workers, especially young workers, who are able to access technology quickly.
Emulation movements are also designed in a flexible direction, suitable for each unit such as jogging, walking, cycling, half-time exercise... These activities not only help improve physical fitness but also create cohesion in the working environment, contributing to reducing pressure and improving the spirit of workers.
In particular, the organization of voluntary blood donation with an expected scale of 500 participants is not only of humanitarian significance but also contributes to spreading the spirit of sharing in the worker community.
In parallel, models such as "Living Blood Banks", "Voluntary Blood Donation Clubs" are encouraged to be built, creating a long-term foundation for this activity.
A noteworthy new point is the introduction of technology into health management for workers. Gradually building a health database will help monitor, evaluate and propose more appropriate care solutions in the future.
According to Mr. Le Van Dai, organizing the "Day for Workers' Health" is not only a response activity but also a long-term responsibility of the trade union organization in caring for workers' lives.
According to him, when health is ensured, workers are not only assured to work but also contribute to improving the quality of human resources, promoting the sustainable development of businesses and localities. Therefore, this plan is built with the requirement of being "realistic, effective, focused", avoiding formality and must create a spread.
