Regularly every day, veteran Le Xuan Niem (Hanoi) wears a prosthetic leg, walking from home to the Center for Traditional and Historical Education. This is where he has devoted more than 30 years of his life to educating national historical traditions.
Mr. Niem recounted that in 1992, he received a retirement decision. After that, he participated in activities at the Humanitarian and Elderly Advisory Board, followed by the Traditional Education Department and proceeded to establish the Center for Traditional and Historical Education, under the Vietnam Psychological and Educational Science Association. In October 1992, he was appointed Director of the Center.
I have been asked many times why in the context that many people are engrossed in making a living, I choose to stick with the journey of preserving and spreading traditions" - the Center Director shared.
Mr. Niem confided that as a soldier directly participating in the battlefield, he saw the sacrifice of his comrades. That is why he dedicates all his enthusiasm to educating national historical traditions.


The Center for Traditional and Historical Education - Vietnam Psychological and Educational Science Association has been assigned the task by the State: "Contributing to arousing Vietnamese spirit, arousing national pride, arousing the morality of "Drinking water - Remembering the source" and promoting patriotism, Vietnamese revolutionary heroism in the spirit of great national unity in the period of peace, construction, integration, development and protection of the Fatherland".
The Center for Traditional and Historical Education has implemented many practical activities. Typically, the Center has organized thousands of "Returning to the Source" trips at historical, cultural, and revolutionary relics.
When participating in this trip, teacher Vi Van Bong (Quang Ninh) said: "Through the "Returning to the Roots with Uncle Ho" trip, it made my heart love the country more, love the people more, love the profession more and love students more.
The Center has also organized thousands of meetings - exchanges - honoring - gratitude ceremonies for policy families and people with meritorious services, with millions of participants, aiming to contribute to embellishing the beauty of people and strengthening the belief in life.
Members of the center have ignited the tradition and upheld the morality of "Drinking water - Remembering the source" for millions of students, in order to contribute to supplementing knowledge: "Our people must know our history".
The Center has helped many policy families and people with meritorious services in difficult circumstances in the post-war period nationwide and created the movement "Gratitude - Drinking water, remembering the source".
Along with that, the Center organized many "people's diplomacy - people-to-people exchange" trips, with thousands of participants such as going to Russia, China, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Japan, to thank international friends and propagate patriotism and Vietnamese revolutionary heroism to the world.
Organized dozens of scientific conferences and documentary photo exhibitions in schools and public places, to propagate and promote patriotic and revolutionary traditions, and uphold the morality of "When drinking water, remember the source" among all classes of people, especially with school youth.
With 6 types like that and more than 30 years of practical operation, the Center has actively contributed, highlighting the profound humanistic values, traditional values, truly glorious history and the noble sacrifice of generations of Vietnamese people in the resistance and national construction of the nation" - Mr. Niem said.
