Innovation to meet new requirements
The preliminary report on 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 02-NQ/TW of the Politburo on "Innovating the organization and operation of the Vietnam Trade Union in the new situation" shows that Da Nang trade union levels have strongly shifted from an administrative-oriented approach to focusing on union members, paying attention to the practical needs of workers.
In the period 2021-2025, Da Nang (old) alone supported more than 162,000 turns of union members and workers in difficult circumstances with a total budget of more than 104 billion VND; Quang Nam (old) supported nearly 24,000 cases.
Hundreds of "Trade Union Homes" have been built, many programs such as "Tet Sum vay", "Trade Union Meals", "Trade Union Bus Trips", "Union Member Welfare"... continue to be maintained and expanded.
A noteworthy point is that after the merger of Da Nang and Quang Nam, care not only stops at material support but also focuses more on spiritual life.
With nearly 90% of grassroots trade unions organizing cultural and sports activities; the fanpage system and digital platform of the Trade Union are strongly developed to connect with union members faster and more conveniently.
Propaganda activities have been strongly transferred to the digital environment with nearly 2,800 news, articles, and videos posted, and more than 1,100 grassroots trade union fan pages synchronously connected.
After the merger, the Da Nang City Labor Federation manages 1,767 grassroots trade unions with more than 216,700 union members and 28 commune and ward trade unions. Larger scale means that the requirement to innovate operating methods is also becoming more urgent.
Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh - Chairwoman of the Da Nang City Labor Federation - said that after the merger, the area is wider, the number of union members is higher, and the labor structure is also more diverse.
This requires the Trade Union organization to continue to strongly innovate both in content and methods of operation, taking the satisfaction of union members and workers as a measure of effectiveness.
Step by step realizing goals
In the coming time, the City Trade Union will promote digital transformation, put into operation the Da Nang Trade Union application, develop digital platforms to connect union members, and at the same time focus on improving the quality of the staff, strengthening dialogue, negotiation, caring for and better protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers.
According to Ms. Phan Thi Thuy Linh, Resolution 02-NQ/TW identifies the goal of building a strong Trade Union organization in the new situation.
After 5 years of implementation and especially in the context of merging the two localities, the initial results show that the Da Nang Trade Union is gradually realizing that goal with specific actions.
More importantly, the working mindset is changing. If previously the Trade Union mainly organized movements according to plan, now it is increasingly focusing on listening to the actual needs of union members to design appropriate activities.
Previously, the connection was mainly through meetings, now it has expanded to digital platforms. In particular, the care is mainly during peak periods, but now many programs have become regular activities.
In the context that Da Nang city after merger is aiming to become a new growth pole of the Central region, an innovative, close and professional Trade Union organization will not only contribute to protecting workers' rights but also create motivation for workers to feel secure in sticking with businesses, accompanying the city's development.
