Practical care for female workers
Amidst the sound of machines running continuously in the workshop, Ms. Tran Thi Lan, a worker at Panko Tam Thang One Member Limited Liability Company (a Korean FDI garment enterprise with more than 5,000 workers in Tam Thang Industrial Park, Quang Phu ward, Da Nang) once quietly endured a feeling of milk tightness many times while working shifts.
There are times when I am exhausted to the point of dizziness, but if I leave my position, I am afraid of the chain reaction," Ms. Lan recounted.
When the "Milk squeezing - storing cabin" model was coordinated by the trade union in 2019, Ms. Lan felt like she had shelved the burden. The cabin is about 20m2 wide, with enough milk pumps, refrigerators, sterilizers... helping her take advantage of resting in the middle of the hour to squeeze and store milk safely.
Now I both ensure my health and continue to breastfeed. I am really grateful to the trade union for thinking about the very ordinary needs of working women," Ms. Lan said.
From an initial bright spot, this model has gradually been replicated in many other businesses in Tam Thang IP, becoming a practical support for worker mothers.
At Matrix Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Hoa Khanh Industrial Park), the story of caring for workers starts from... the lunch tray. When the Trade Union launched the program "Nutritive lunch - Healthy workers", the grassroots Trade Union organization stood up to negotiate with the business.
As a result, the main meal was increased from 15,000 VND to 20,000 VND/person, and at the same time, snacks were arranged for pregnant workers.
Female worker Nguyen Thi Anh Thu shared: "Increasing 5,000 VND does not sound big, but for shift workers, a nutritious meal helps us feel less tired and less sick. I thank the trade union for speaking for the voice of workers.
Expecting a stable working environment
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Anh - Vice President of Da Nang City Labor Federation emphasized that caring for female workers is not only material support but also spiritual sharing; each meal, gift or greeting is of great significance when the lives of workers are full of pressure.
The common point is that women all want to have sustainable jobs, stable incomes and practical social security policies. Workers expect the 14th Party Congress to focus more on creating quality jobs, developing social housing, trade union facilities, kindergartens - schools near industrial parks, so that workers can "settle down to find a career" - Ms. Anh said.
Ms. Huynh Thi Du - Head of Human Resources Department, Vice President of the grassroots Trade Union of Panko Tam Thang Company, is one of the 60 typical outstanding individuals of the movement "Good at state affairs - good at housework" honored by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in 2025, said: "My company currently has more than 4,000 female workers, and women all hope to have more kindergartens, policies to support workers in taking care of young children and especially to have stable jobs and enough income to live on so that women do not have to choose between keeping jobs and taking care of children.
