When asked about whether the amount of a few billion VND deposited in the bank is enough to cover long-term retirement life, Meritorious Artist Chi Trung said: "With a civil servant who has worked for more than 40 years like me, having 1-2 billion VND in the bank is nothing compared to many other professions, especially compared to dynamic young people now. But that amount of money is enough for me to cover my retirement life. My personality is to be independent and self-reliant. I have arranged my future, at some age when my eyes are blurred and my feet are slow, I will go to a nursing home. I don't want to bother anyone.
According to Meritorious Artist Chi Trung, before holding the position of director at the Youth Theater, he had to shoulder a very large responsibility, worrying about making a living all year round, earning money to cover the theater, worrying about earning more to have money to pay for the artists. Many times, busy life takes him away, leaving no time to look up at... the sky.
It was not until I retired that I looked up and saw the blue sky overflowing. Saying that to show that now I have slowed down, enjoyed relaxation and peace. Every day, I spend time exercising in the morning, having breakfast with my girlfriend, then going home to watch movies, read books. In the afternoon, I read books, watch movies and play sports (laughs). Life brings the spirit of truly enjoying, knowing how to take care of my own health" - Chi Trung shared.
Meritorious Artist Chi Trung and his girlfriend Y Lan arrange time to travel and vacation a few times a year. The girlfriend is many years younger than Chi Trung. Therefore, Chi Trung affirmed that he will not remarry. He does not want his girlfriend to bear the burden for him.
In a few years, I will get older while she is still young. I don't want to bother her. In the distant future, that's it. Currently, we still spend time together. I go back and forth between the two houses. I still have my own small house, my own life there" - Chi Trung said.
Chi Trung said that he cherishes the days he is living, and is more conscious of taking care of his health.
This year without Tao Quan, Meritorious Artist Chi Trung will participate in the replacement program, Spring Square, which will be broadcast on New Year's Eve of the Lunar New Year.
“Throughout the journey of more than 20 years of broadcasting, Tao Quan has been dissected and discussed many times about whether to stop broadcasting or continue, how to change, how to innovate... Temporarily stopping to look back at the past journey is also necessary. I have not heard information that Tao Quan will stop forever. Maybe the program will return some year? Let's just wait and see” - Meritorious Artist Chi Trung shared.
Meritorious Artist Chi Trung was born in 1961, grew up from the spoken drama stage of the Youth Theater. He held the position of director at the Youth Theater for many years before retiring. He is famous from theater, film, television... especially, he is loved by audiences for his role as Traffic Tao when participating in Tao Quan for 20 years.
