Solar lights stretching along village roads and alleys not only help people travel more safely, but also ignite faith, peace of mind and the warmth of human love.
Recently, the Labor Federation of Lang Son province coordinated with the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hoang Van Thu commune to organize the inauguration and handover of the "Lighting up Village Roads" project in Coc Man and Na Phieng villages. The project was implemented from October 2025, as a result of the joint efforts between the Trade Union organization, local authorities and people in the border area.
On a total length of about 9km, 40 solar light bulbs are installed along village roads. The total implementation cost is more than 80 million VND, of which the Provincial Labor Federation supports 70 million VND from the Social Fund, and the rest is socialized by local authorities and people.
What is precious is that the project is not only donated from external resources, but also "built" with the consensus of the people. People in the two villages have donated land, created ground, arranged locations for installing light poles; and contributed 6 working days with 42 turns of people directly transporting materials, erecting poles, and installing lighting systems.
After the project was completed, people also agreed to jointly manage, protect and maintain it so that light can be maintained for a long time on rural roads.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Be Van Kien - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hoang Van Thu commune - said that Coc Man and Na Phieng are both particularly difficult villages.
Previously, village roads were winding, dark and slippery, and people limited going out in the evening for fear of unsafety. “When the lighting system was put into use, travel was more convenient, security and order were ensured, and people's lives were also busier and more connected,” Mr. Kien shared.
In Na Phieng village, Mr. Nong Van Thanh - Secretary of the Party Cell, Village Head - said that before there was electric lighting, people were always worried about theft and accidents when traveling at night. Since the road was lit up, along with the installation of security cameras, people are much more reassured.
In the evening now, people can go out to chat and live, the atmosphere in the village is also happier and warmer," Mr. Thanh said.
Not only stopping at Hoang Van Thu, before that, at the end of January 2026, the Labor Federation of Lang Son province coordinated with Chi Lang Border Guard Station and Khuat Xa Commune People's Committee to hand over the project "Lighting up village roads" in Khuat Xa commune, with 20 solar light bulbs over a length of about 800m, continuing to extend the "light streaks" in the border area.
According to Mr. Luong Chi Cong - Vice Chairman of Lang Son Provincial Labor Federation, in the period 2023-2025, trade union levels in the province mobilized and contributed nearly 4 billion VND to build 23 roads to inspect landmarks and protect borders.
The Provincial Labor Federation alone mobilized to build 4 roads worth 700 million VND and implemented 2 projects "Lighting up village roads" with a total budget of 120 million VND.
The roads lit today not only have significance for rural transport infrastructure, but are also symbols of companionship and sharing. The light from the small light bulbs is contributing daily to maintaining peace in the border area, elevating the people of Lang land border region on the journey to build a stable and sustainable life.
