The Vietnam Trade Union was established on August 30, 1967, after 78 years of construction and development, and has affirmed its position and important role in contributing to the development of the Vietnam Trade Union organization.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is currently managing 268 grassroots unions with a total of 87,895 union members, including 54 affiliated unions, including 3 unions at the grassroots level and 51 affiliated grassroots unions. The team of workers and civil servants in the Science and Technology industry has high professional qualifications, strong thinking, always believing in the leadership of the Party and the legal policies of the State, contributing significantly to the development of the industry and the country.
In the first 6 months of 2025, the Trade Union of Industry and Trade has performed well the function of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers. The union has supported and visited 4,356 union members in difficult circumstances with an amount of more than 3.9 billion VND; supported 958 union members to participate in the Union Tet Market with a total amount of 479 million VND; visited 599 union members in difficult circumstances during Tet with an amount of 1 million VND/person.
At the launching ceremony of Workers' Month and Workers' Safety and Health Month in 2025, the Trade Union launched the movement "The whole country competes in innovation, creativity and digital transformation"; organized a direct and e-commerce workers' market; presented 450 vouchers, 20 gifts and supported 298 union members in difficult circumstances (1 million VND/person).
The union developed 324 new union members, introduced 415 outstanding union members to the Party, of which 389 were admitted to the Party. Propaganda work was promoted with 83,145 union members studying and disseminating the Party's Directives and Resolutions and State laws, more than 80,000 union members participating in cultural and sports activities, improving spiritual life, and creating an exciting atmosphere at the grassroots level.
In addition, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor promotes emulation movements associated with digital transformation, applying artificial intelligence, using technology platforms to serve trade union activities, improving communication methods to promptly bring information and policies to union members and workers.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor organized a training conference to foster the skills of using artificial intelligence and virtual assistants in person and online for more than 80,000 cadres, union members, and workers in the entire industry... contributing to building a strong team of workers and civil servants in the Science and Technology industry, adapting to the requirements of digital transformation and the current 4.0 industrial revolution. Cultural, artistic and sports activities, caring for material life, raising the spirit of union members and workers are regularly organized at all levels of trade unions, attracting a large number of union members and workers to respond and participate.
With the motto of innovating the content and methods of operation, focusing on the grassroots, improving the quality of the union staff, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor is increasingly affirming its role as a solid support for union members and workers, contributing to building a strong union organization, accompanying union members and workers in the science and technology sector in the development and integration process, contributing to the cause of industrialization, modernization and the era of national growth, said Mr. Pham Duc Long, Chairman of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
