According to the Trade Union Committee of Industrial Parks of Lao Cai province, the demand for social housing for workers and laborers is at a very high level. This is clearly shown when the Social Housing Project in the left bank of the Red River (Lao Cai ward) with more than 700 apartments has almost been fully registered before completion.
Similarly, ongoing projects such as the social housing area adjacent to extended B6 road (Cam Duong ward) also attract 2 - 3 times more applications than the number of apartments expected to be sold.
This reality shows that the "thirst" for social housing for workers in mountainous areas is increasingly urgent, especially in the context that commercial housing prices far exceed the affordability of most workers.
However, the journey to access social housing still faces many barriers. The selling price is considered quite high compared to the average income of workers (about 8 million VND/person/month).
In addition, the conditions and standards for approval are still strict; access to preferential credit capital is also not easy.

Faced with the above situation, the Trade Union of Industrial Parks of Lao Cai province has proactively intervened and implemented many solutions to support workers.
Currently, 50 grassroots trade unions at enterprises have been directed to review housing needs, especially social housing for workers. At the same time, the trade union organization also mobilized businesses to pay more attention to housing support policies for workers.
Mr. Hoang Tuan Hai - Deputy Head of the Trade Union Committee of Industrial Parks in Lao Cai province shared: "We will strengthen the provision of information, guide legal procedures, support workers to complete dossiers, and connect resources to help workers access social housing purchase support policies according to regulations.
Not only stopping at propaganda, the trade union also orients to participate more deeply in the coordination process with relevant units, contributing to removing "bottlenecks" in procedures, credit and housing access conditions.
