On May 11, information from the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center, Institute of Earth Sciences (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) said that these earthquakes occurred in the areas of Kon Plong, Mang Den, Mang But and Mang Ri communes (Quang Ngai).
6 earthquakes with magnitudes from 2.6 to 3.7 degrees. Among them, the largest earthquake with magnitude 3.7 occurred at 10:43 am on May 11, at coordinates 14.774° North latitude – 108.262° East longitude, focal depth of about 8.2 km. The earthquake occurred in the Mang Den commune area.
Earthquakes all have a disaster risk level: 0. Currently, the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Center is still continuing to closely monitor seismic developments in this area to promptly issue necessary notifications.
Stimulating earthquakes, often of weak or moderate intensity, rarely cause serious damage like natural tectonic earthquakes.
Stimulating earthquakes occur cyclically, closely related to the water storage activities of reservoirs. There are periods when earthquakes operate weakly, and periods when earthquakes occur frequently.
It is predicted that the induced earthquake in this area will last for many years, possibly 10 years before stabilizing, but it is unlikely to be greater than 5.5 magnitudes.
