In the afternoon of April 9, the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation coordinated with the Can Tho City Labor Federation to organize the Workshop "Solutions to improve the quality of propaganda and mobilization to develop union members and establish grassroots trade unions".
Attending the program were Mr. Kha Van Tam - Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation; Ms. Tran Ngoc My - Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City Labor Federation, along with representatives of officials and specialists of the two units.
Speaking at the workshop, Mr. Kha Van Tam said that the work of developing union members and establishing grassroots trade unions has always been identified as a key and consistent task of the trade union organization. However, in reality, there are still many difficulties, especially in the non-state business sector when some business owners have not created favorable conditions.

According to Mr. Tam, the reason stems not only from the awareness of workers and employers but also from the specific characteristics of businesses in the area, mainly small and micro-sized, with large labor fluctuations, causing difficulties in gathering and maintaining union members.
From that reality, Mr. Kha Van Tam proposed that delegates and trade union officials attending the workshop focus on discussing and clarifying solutions to innovate propaganda methods in a flexible and practical direction; strengthen coordination with the government and functional sectors in reviewing businesses, firmly grasping sources of union member development.
At the same time, it is necessary to discuss in depth solutions to improve the quality of grassroots trade union activities, better care for practical rights in order to create attraction, help workers voluntarily participate and stick with the trade union organization.

According to a report by the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation, in the period from 2024 to the end of the first quarter of 2026, the whole province has newly developed 41,823 union members, bringing the total number of union members to 150.821 people, and at the same time established many grassroots trade unions in non-state enterprises.
At the workshop, Ms. Tran Ngoc My shared experiences from the Can Tho City Labor Federation, emphasizing the innovation of propaganda methods in a modern direction, suitable for each target group; improving the quality of trade union officials; promoting the application of information technology and social networks in mobilizing union members.
At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen coordination with the government and functional sectors in surveying businesses, grasping the needs of workers; building practical welfare models to attract workers to voluntarily join trade union organizations.

Delegates also frankly pointed out some limitations such as large labor fluctuations, small-scale enterprises accounting for the majority, the resources of trade union officials are still thin, and mobilization skills in a part of officials do not meet the requirements.
From that reality, the conference agreed on many solutions such as: innovating the content and methods of propaganda; improving the quality of grassroots trade union activities; strengthening cadre training; perfecting mechanisms and policies to create more favorable conditions for the establishment and operation of grassroots trade unions.
On this occasion, the Can Tho City Labor Federation presented 40 gifts worth 20 million VND to workers in difficult circumstances in Nghe An province.
