The opinion poll aims to consider the possibility of creating a continuous holiday between Hung Kings' Death Anniversary and the occasion of April 30 - May 1.
According to information from the Vietnam Trade Union, the opinion poll is being implemented online on social networks, taking place in a short time (from April 7-9), in order to promptly summarize and report to competent authorities.
Over the past time, many grassroots trade unions, workers and even officials and civil servants have proposed to study swapping holidays so that holidays are not divided.
The reason is that in 2026, the Hung Kings Commemoration Day (10th day of the 3rd lunar month) falls on Sunday (April 26), so according to regulations, workers will have compensatory leave on Monday (April 27). However, after that, only work for 2 days and then continue to have holidays on April 30 and May 1, causing the holiday to be interrupted, making it difficult to arrange time for rest and travel.
The Vietnam General Confederation of Labor proposed 3 options for workers to choose from:
Option 1: Compensation leave according to regulations (April 27), no swap.
Option 2: Swap the holiday from April 27th to April 29th, helping to create a continuous 3-5 day holiday.
Option 3: Swap the April 27th holiday to May 2nd, so that some groups of workers can take 4 consecutive days off.
The collection of opinions is also divided according to labor characteristics such as working 5 days/week, 6 days/week or in shifts to ensure compliance with production practices.
Representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the 2026 holiday schedule has been approved by the Government before and there is currently no policy to adjust or swap.
According to the issued schedule, the Hung Kings Commemoration Day holiday: 1 day off (and compensatory leave if coinciding with the weekend).
April 30 - May 1: 2 days off according to regulations.
This opinion poll is expected to help build a more flexible holiday plan, both ensuring the rights of workers and not causing major disruptions to production and business activities.
