Workers gather to demand rights
At the beginning of 2025, nearly 100 workers (CNLĐ) of Hoang Thi Loan Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company (now belonging to Truong Vinh ward, Nghe An) gathered at the company gate to request settlement of resignation benefits. Many workers expressed frustration when the enterprise had not organized a meeting to collect collective opinions but issued a decision to dismiss them from January 12, 2025. The implementation of related regimes has also not been ensured, including the January 2025 salary, the 13th month bonus and severance allowance.
In the context of already low income, many workers are the pillars of the family, having to rent rooms, raise young children or take care of relatives, being suddenly fired makes life difficult. Many workers said that they are forced to focus on petitioning to protect their legitimate rights.
After receiving information, the Nghe An Trade Union organization and related units were present at the scene to grasp the situation, listen to the opinions and thoughts of workers. The working delegation directly exchanged and explained relevant legal regulations, and fully recorded the recommendations. On that basis, the working delegation requested Hoang Thi Loan Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company to soon organize a dialogue conference between employers and employees, and promptly resolve arising issues in accordance with the provisions of the 2019 Labor Code.
The company representative agreed with this proposal, and also said that they would report to the Board of Directors and General Director to arrange to organize a dialogue in the near future. The employee side also sent 5 representatives to participate in the working session, summarizing opinions and proposals in writing to serve as a basis for resolution.
Trade union persistently protects workers
Not stopping at stabilizing the initial situation, the Trade Union organization continues to monitor, accompany and support workers throughout the process of resolving the case. After more than a year of persistent involvement, up to now, workers have been fully paid salaries and allowances owed by the company. This result not only shows the legal compliance of the enterprise but also affirms the representative role and protection of the legitimate and lawful rights of the Trade Union organization.
In a thank-you letter sent to the Nghe An Trade Union, a representative of the collective of workers wrote: "After more than 1 year of persistently supporting, accompanying and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights of workers, we have now received the full amount of money that the company still owes. This is a great source of encouragement, helping workers to feel secure in stabilizing their lives and continuing to work and produce.
Workers also expressed their respect for the spirit of responsibility, sharing and determination to protect workers' rights of the Trade Union, considering this a reliable support in difficult times.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Kha Van Tam - Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial Labor Federation - affirmed that the case at Hoang Thi Loan Textile and Garment Joint Stock Company is a clear proof of the role of the Trade Union organization in representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of workers. In the context that many businesses are facing difficulties and the risk of labor disputes may increase, promoting the role of grassroots trade unions and strengthening dialogue and negotiation is an important solution to prevent and promptly handle arising problems.
