Attending the workshop were comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Vice President of the World Trade Union Federation; comrade Mzwandile Michael Makwayiba - President of the World Trade Union Federation; comrade Pambis Kyritsis - General Secretary of the World Trade Union Federation; comrade Thai Thu Xuong - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor.
Speaking at the conference, Comrade Thai Thu Xuong - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor said that since its inception, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor has been a revolutionary trade union organization, linking the interests of the working class with the interests of the entire nation, accompanying the development of the country through the ages. After 13 congresses, the Vietnam Trade Union has overcome many difficulties and challenges, performing its functions well under the leadership of the Party. Vietnam Trade Union is always loyal to the interests of the working class and ethnic groups, gathering, uniting and promoting the spirit of patriotism and class awareness of workers, civil servants and laborers nationwide, making an important contribution to the struggle for independence as well as the construction and protection of the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam.
These achievements are not only thanks to the efforts of the Vietnam Trade Union but also thanks to the valuable companionship, support and assistance from the World Trade Union Federation throughout Vietnam's historical journey, from the years of struggle for independence to the current period of national development. In particular, in the resistance war against the US to save the country, the World Trade Union Federation has organized many international conferences to call for solidarity with Vietnam, through resolutions opposing the war of aggression, and at the same time mobilizing donations of materials and finance to support the people and the Vietnam Trade Union.
Works such as the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Labor Culture House (Quang Ninh), the Vietnam - Soviet Friendship Labor Cultural Palace (Hanoi), the Vietnam - Tiep Friendship Labor Culture House (Hai Phong) are vivid evidence of the strong international solidarity. "That is an extremely valuable source of encouragement and support for the Vietnam Trade Union that we always remember and cherish" - the Standing Vice President expressed.
The Permanent Vice President emphasized that the Vietnam Trade Union is proud of its close relationship with the World Trade Union Federation. Since joining the World Trade Union, the Vietnam Trade Union has always been an active member, contributing to common activities. Many leaders of the Vietnam Trade Union have taken on important responsibilities in the World Trade Union Federation through the ages.
"In recent years, the cooperative relationship between the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the World Trade Union Federation has been increasingly consolidated and developed. The two sides regularly organize high-level visits, attend important conferences and coordinate to organize many practical activities. Vietnam Trade Union also always fulfills its membership obligations and actively contributes to international trade union forums organized by the World Trade Union Federation" - comrade Thai Thu Xuong said.
In the context of the world currently facing many difficulties and major challenges, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor hopes that the World Trade Union will continue to promote its pioneering role, promote close cooperation and take practical actions to protect the rights of workers.
Looking back on the past 80 years, we can proudly affirm that the international trade union movement is developing strongly, becoming a solid support for workers around the world. The World Trade Union Union, from an organization with 67 million union members at first, has now developed into an international union center with 105 million union members of 217 union organizations of 133 countries and territories. This is a testament to the strong solidarity of the global working class in the struggle for peace, fairness and sustainable development.
Comrade Thai Thu Xuong emphasized that in the spirit of international solidarity, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor affirms that it will always accompany the World Trade Union Federation, stand side by side with member organizations to protect the rights of workers; at the same time, expressed her desire to continue to receive support and close cooperation from the World Trade Union Federation for the Vietnamese trade union and workers' movement.
Before that, the Conference of the Presidium of the World Trade Union Federation had closed. The conference approved the 2025 Action Plan of the World Trade Union Federation; approved the Plan of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the World Trade Union Federation; approved the report of the Financial Inspection Committee; approved the Resolutions; approved the applications for joining trade union organizations.
