Comrade Do Van Chien - Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central Trade Unions, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Comrade Nguyen Dinh Khang - Member of the Party Central Committee, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Vice President of the WFTU; Comrade Thai Thu Xuong - Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor attended the conference.
The conference was attended by nearly 80 international delegates, from more than 40 national trade union organizations of 36 countries and international trade union organizations of sectors and occupations under the World Trade Union Federation.
The WFTU Presidium Conference is held annually to discuss and evaluate the WFTU's performance in the past year, propose the direction for the next year's activities and consider and approve the WFTU application of the organizations. The participants of the Conference were members of the WFTU Presidium, members of the WFTU Secretariat, heads of representatives of WFTU regional offices and Chairmen and General Secretaries of the international trade union under WFTU.
The WFTU's decision to choose the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor as the organizer of the World Trade Union Presidium Conference and the International Workshop "The World Trade Union, 80 years of formation and development" on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of WFTU once again demonstrates WFTU's trust in the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, as well as the Vietnam Trade Union organization; at the same time, affirming the proactive, active and responsible participation of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor in this important multilateral mechanism, contributing to raising awareness, building international solidarity and expanding the role and influence of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor on labor and trade union issues in the region and the world.
WFTU is an international trade union organization established in 1945, the first and oldest international trade union center, gathering 110 million union members of 217 trade union organizations of 133 countries and territories. 2025 is the year of the solemn 80th anniversary of the founding of WFTU (October 3, 1945 - October 3, 2025).
