On July 13, present at the boarding house area on Dang Thai Mai Street in Vinh Hung Ward (Nghe An Province), the reporter noted that the lives of workers renting here still have many difficulties and shortages.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh (born in 2001, from Do Luong district) - a worker at an electronic components manufacturing company in VSIP Industrial Park - is currently renting a room with just enough mattress, a small kitchen table and a few essential items.

"I just started working, with a salary of 7-8 million VND/month. If I work overtime, I get about 9 million VND/month, but spending 3-4 million VND, sending a little more money to my hometown is considered a waste" - Mr. Thanh shared.
Due to poor living conditions, the weather was very hot, but he did not dare to install air conditioners. "The electricity bill for a rental house is 2,700 VND/kWh, the water bill is 15,000 VND/m3. thing to install a refrigerator is not sustainable, so you have to accept the heat" - he said.
I am very happy with the information that the State will adjust the regional minimum wage increase to 7.2%. This is a significantly increased source of income for me to cover my living expenses and take care of my family" - Mr. Thanh expressed.
Ms. Tran Thi Nguyet - former Vice President of the Trade Union of the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone - said that because the regional minimum wage is still low, the average income of workers in the province is only about 6.5 million VND/month. Meanwhile, living expenses and rental costs are increasing, making the lives of workers more and more difficult.
Faced with this situation, the Trade Union of the Southeast Nghe An Economic Zone previously recommended that the People's Committee of Nghe An province work with investors and enterprises with FDI capital to recommend salary adjustments and improved income for workers. At the same time, the trade union also recommended that the National Wage Council and competent authorities consider adjusting the regional minimum wage, especially regions 3 and 4, to closely follow the actual consumer price index.
According to Ms. Tran Thi Nguyet, the National Wage Council's adjustment of the regional minimum wage to 7.2% not only contributes to ensuring social security for workers but also helps attract human resources, limiting the risk of labor disputes in the context of many fluctuations in the socio-economy.
Chairman of Nghe An Provincial Federation of Labor Kha Van Tam shared: I completely agree, excited and note that the regional minimum wage will increase to 7.2%. Although this increase has not been achieved as expected, it is still very valuable for workers. Immediate salary increase is necessary and urgent, to quickly help workers reduce difficulties, make efforts, work enthusiastically, stick with businesses, and contribute to building the homeland of the country.
