The National Wage Council has voted to finalize the proposal to increase the regional minimum wage by 7.2% from January 1, 2026.

Speaking to reporters right after the second session of the National Wage Council ended at noon on July 11, Mr. Nguyen Manh Khuong - Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Chairman of the National Wage Council said that all members of the National Wage Council present at the meeting voted to propose a regional minimum wage increase of 7.2%, the time of application from January 1, 2026.

"The above increase rate and time of increase are very suitable for the current period in the country's economic development, towards the era of national growth" - said the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.

Previously, at the first session of the National Wage Council (taking place on June 26), the relevant parties had not yet found a common voice on the proposed regional minimum wage.

Along with the 2 proposed regional minimum wage increases from the representative of workers, Mr. Hoang Quang Phong - Vice President of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Vice Chairman of the National Wage Council said that the proposed adjustment rate is from 3% to 5%.

In addition, the technical department of the council also proposed an increase in the regional minimum wage from 6.5% to 7%.
