In 2008, after graduating from high school, Mr. Nguyen Van An joined as a janitor at Printing Joint Stock Company No. 7, Tan Tao Industrial Park, Ho Chi Minh City. After that, he was successively transferred to inspection, assistant to the Printing Workshop Management Board, head of the technical team of the finished product printing workshop. Currently, he is the manager of Workshop 3 with more than 40 workers.
Mr. An shared that during his work process, the company created conditions for him to participate in soft skills classes and professional training. Although he is proficient in his job and assigned a management position, he still feels the need to supplement his knowledge. Therefore, in 2024, he registered to study for a distance bachelor's degree in Business Administration at Tra Vinh University.
Mr. An confided that during his studies, he was supported by Printing Joint Stock Company No. 7 by arranging suitable working hours to go to school, take exams, and according to the company's collective labor agreement, if he graduates from university, he will receive a bonus of 6 million VND.
When I went to school, I gained access to many new knowledge about human resource management, business administration, customer communication skills... These are things I used to mainly do as a habit. These knowledge help me understand more about management and be more confident in my work. Thanks to studying hard, I have a better job position, and salaries and bonuses are also much higher than before" - Mr. An said.
Workers' learning helps improve work and product quality
Mr. Nguyen Van An is just a typical example of Printing Joint Stock Company No. 7 in studying to improve their qualifications to serve their work.
Mr. Truong Hoang Tam - Chairman of the Trade Union of Printing Joint Stock Company No. 7 - informed that determining that supporting and helping workers study to improve their qualifications is also helping the company improve the quality of human resources, so for many years, the company has always had many policies to pay attention to and create conditions for employees to study to improve their qualifications.
The company's collective labor agreement (TƯLĐTT) through many stages all records the reward for employees studying to improve their qualifications or achieving results in promotional exams. Most recently, the company's TƯLĐTT for the period 2026 - 2028 signed recently recorded: If employees take promotional exams and meet the requirements, they are rewarded 500,000 VND, if they are excellent, they are rewarded 1 million VND. Employees who study continuing education and graduate from high school are rewarded 3 million VND; all cases of registering to study and graduate from university for the 1st time are rewarded 6 million VND by the company. For cases of registering to study and graduate from university for the 2nd time, postgraduate, depending on each case, the company also considers rewarding 6 million VND. The company also rewards employees' children with good academic achievements 2 times/year.
Because of such policies, many employees of the company have registered to study and been rewarded. Conversely, employees also apply many learned knowledge to work, helping the company have a stable labor source, better work quality and products. The company's creation of conditions and support for employees to study and improve their qualifications is also contributing to the implementation of the resolutions of trade union congresses at all levels" - Mr. Tam said.
The Resolution of the first Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union Congress, term 2026 - 2031, has set out 16 targets to strive for each year, including the target: Encouraging and supporting at least 50% of workers at enterprises to participate in studying to improve their qualifications and professional skills; at least 75% of workers at enterprises to participate in studying life skills education contents, participate in the "Digital Literacy Program", and be disseminated knowledge about information technology and digital technology skills.
