Working day and night, determined to finish on time
The North-South Expressway Construction Investment Project, Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon section, has a total investment of more than VND 20,400 billion (of which the construction value is nearly VND 14,500 billion), with a length of 88km, passing through the provinces of Quang Ngai (60.3km) and Binh Dinh (27.7km). This is the largest project of the 12 component projects.
The route has 3 tunnels across the mountain including: tunnel No. 1 is 610m long, tunnel No. 2 is 698m long and tunnel No. 3 is 3,200m long, along with 77 bridges, 586 culverts, 81 underpasses for people.
Responding to the peak movement of "500 days and nights of competition to complete 3,000km of expressway" launched by the Prime Minister, contractors constructing the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon component project are making efforts to work day and night to speed up the project's progress.
A representative of Deo Ca Group (the lead contractor of the consortium) said that 50 50 50 50 50 working hours with 3,000 personnel and 1,100 equipment are being deployed at the construction site. Total output to date has reached about 10,250 billion VND, equivalent to 77% of the total volume.
Regarding the road, crushed stone aggregate has been constructed to 98% and nearly 70km of asphalt paving has been carried out. According to the plan, the asphalt concrete construction is expected to be completed by the end of September 2025.
There are 77 bridges on the route, all bridges have completed the lower structure, the beam casting and installation of beams and are under construction of the bridge deck. Regarding the tunnel, tunnels 1 and 2 have basically completed the construction and installation of electromechanical equipment and ITS system. tunnel No. 3 has dug through 2 tunnels, and is constructing concrete for tunnel lining and roadbed.
Regarding production, the assembly of traffic safety components reached about 95% of output. Currently, the construction of safety nets on both sides of the route has been completed, and the installation of guardrails, median strips, signs, etc. is underway.
Quang Ngai strives to resolve problems related to land
To date, the construction volume has reached about 80% of the contract value. Regarding the construction of the rest stop on the expressway through Dinh Cuong commune, the construction contractor has approached the site and implemented construction on an area of 7 hectares, reaching 58%. However, the project's site clearance progress is still slow, not meeting the set plan.
At a meeting related to some contents on the construction progress of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon section, the section passing through the province, Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Sam - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - said that there are still problems while the time to complete and put the project into operation is very little.
Therefore, the leaders of the Provincial People's Committee requested heads of agencies, units, and Chairmen of People's Committees of communes and wards to focus resources, uphold a sense of responsibility, and be determined in directing and operating, to promptly support the construction unit to complete the project in accordance with the requirements of the Government, the Prime Minister, and the province.
On August 27, a representative of Deo Ca Group said that according to the contract, the project completion date is August 2026. However, the parties are striving to basically complete the bridge and road section before September 30, 2025, while tunnel No. 3 will be completed before December 31, 2025 - 8 months ahead of schedule in the contract.
"In order to ensure the set progress, construction units at the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway project will continue to work as usual on September 2 this year" - said a representative of Deo Ca Group.
