The third largest mountain tunnel in the country on the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway has been dug

tunnel No. 3, part of the Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway component project, has been dug. When completed, this will be the third largest mountain tunnel in the country.

On the afternoon of July 7, a representative of Deo Ca Group (the lead contractor of the project consortium) confirmed the above information. Accordingly, for the tunnel item, to date, tunnels 1 and 2 have completed construction, and the units are urgently installing electromechanical equipment.

tunnel No. 3 is 3,200 m long, road surface width is 12.75 m/tonal. In particular, the right tunnel (North - South direction) was dug on April 28, 2025, 6 months ahead of schedule. The left tunnel has just been dug.

After the tunnel is dug, the contractor will continue to construct items such as digging down the ground, concrete tunnel lining, road surface concrete... According to the plan, the completion of concrete lining for the 2 tunnel tubes will be carried out in October, equipment will be installed and tunnel No. 3 will be completed by the end of December 2025, 9 months ahead of schedule compared to the contract signed with the investor.

The North-South Expressway Construction Investment Project, Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon section, has a total investment of more than VND 20,400 billion (of which the construction value is nearly VND 14,500 billion), with a length of 88 km, passing through the provinces of Quang Ngai (60.3 km) and Binh Dinh (27.7 km). This is the largest project among the 12 component projects.

The route has 3 tunnels across the mountain, including: tunnel No. 1 is 610 m long; tunnel No. 2 is 698 m long; tunnel No. 3 is 3,200 m long. In addition, there are 77 bridges, 586 culverts, 81 underpasses for people.

On July 7, a representative of Deo Ca Group said that 50 50% of the construction teams are currently deployed at the construction site, with 3,100 personnel and 1,150 equipment. Total output to date has reached about VND9,300 billion, equivalent to 70% of the total volume.

Regarding the road, the crushed stone aggregate has been constructed to about 80%, and the asphalt paving process has been carried out for 40 km. According to the plan, it is expected to complete the construction of crushed stone aggregate in July, and the asphalt concrete construction in September.

Regarding production, the assembly of traffic safety components has reached about 80% of output.

Regarding the bridge, there are 77 bridges on the route, all of which have completed the lower structure and girder casting work. Of which, 76 bridges have completed the girder installation and are under construction of the bridge deck.
