The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon expressway project is 88km long, passing through Quang Ngai province (60.3km) and Gia Lai province (27.7km), with a total investment of more than 20,000 billion VND. This is one of the 12 largest component projects of the northeastern North-South expressway in the 2021-2025 period.
According to Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Construction), the investor of the North-South Expressway Construction Project in the East, phase 2021 - 2025, Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon section (Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway), currently, the total volume of the project has reached about 74%. The contractor committed to opening the route on September 30, 2025, with the XL01 and XL02 packages passing through Quang Ngai province.
Mr. Truong Van Vy - site technician (xl1 package) said that to ensure the proposed progress, the contractor has mobilized maximum machinery and human resources to work day and night, and at night, the workers work until 12pm.
"Working at night is very cool, but the visibility is limited, so we have to concentrate highly, while also fully equipping workers with labor protection...", Mr. Vy said.
Up to this point, the contractor, headed by Deo Ca Group, is focusing on machinery and human resources for construction, ready to put the project into operation on December 31, 2025.
The Quang Ngai - Hoai Nhon Expressway has a total length of 88km, divided into 3 packages, including XL01, XL02, XL03; of which, the section through Quang Ngai has 2 packages: XL01 and XL02. The XL01 package is about 30km long, with 31 bridges on the route; the total construction value is 3,682 billion VND.
This is a package that has been accelerated early and is also the first package to carry out asphalt paving and install a traffic safety system in the 3 packages of the project. Currently, the roadbed is under construction at about 99%; 31/31 bridges have been installed with girders, and the bridge deck is being completed.
The XL02 package is 27.2km long, on the main route there are 29 bridges and 2 tunnels across the mountain, with a total construction value of VND 4,129 billion. Currently, tunnel 1 and tunnel 2 have been basically completed; the roadbed has reached about 90%.
According to Deo Ca Group, the unit leading the project contractors consortium, the construction activities are divided into 3 shifts, 4 teams, and some locations are constructed overnight. Regarding construction materials, there are no longer basic difficulties, however, due to the characteristics of the area lacking stone materials used for the asphalt concrete item, the investor is coordinating with the contractor to conduct an experiment, looking for a source of stone materials to ensure high quality.
Mr. Ngo Truong Nam - General Director of Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company said: "The project's progress is being well controlled, the unit and the joint venture are deploying 50 construction teams with about 3,100 personnel and 1,150 equipment and machinery along the construction site. We are making the highest efforts to basically complete the project in 2025 according to the direction of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Construction".
